Sharpening and Clarity
Hi guys, recently I've started looking at some of my images I've posted on other forums and noticed that when submitting them they end up looking "jagged" Aug 29 13 10:04 am Link Cover Shot Images wrote: Aug 29 13 10:14 am Link After. on my comp screen they're fine after post photography. Aug 29 13 11:04 am Link Pre submission the dimensions are 676 x 1016 pixels with resolution of 240. Post submission the dimensions are the same with a resolution of 72. It looks like it was compressed on FB when posted so could that be it? Aug 29 13 11:50 am Link Cover Shot Images wrote: Most likely. The resolution -- 240 vs. 72 -- doesn't mean anything, but they're doing something to screw it up. You might check image size (in kilobytes) before and after and see how much that's changing. Aug 29 13 12:12 pm Link Every forum does it's own thing when you upload to their site. Facebook is the worst. They compress to about the equivalent of Photoshop's level 2. The destruction of the image is significant, and more so depending on the original quality. Aug 29 13 01:06 pm Link Each website may or may not use a compression algorithm. Well some actually sharpen the hell out of it, weather you like it or not, others use a compression with a big deal of quality loss. For most websites, if you submit in the maximum size they allow, they often leave your photo alone. (some however will still apply quality loss compression even if the dimensions are fine). In order to understand if it has been compressed or not, check image size (KB size) before and after. Sep 04 13 02:39 pm Link |
