my pocket P&S always with me, my DSLRs and all the glass invested, no need or interest to change until magic camera....you know...the next best idea or gimmick to get my dollars....and the software and computer rollercoaster to keep up with the tech....weddings do not get do overs and will only continue with my fullframes and L glass...no iphones, samsungs or mirrorless

Well everyone has an inflated opinion of their ability and images...I've found. Somehow the FF has become an automatic solution that makes poor images acceptable, especially on here. I have not seen anything displayed on MM that couldn't have been shot with a mirror-less.

I've shot weddings with mirror-less systems this season...no problems at all.

And the DSLR takes one more hit to the gut.

I have just taken delivery of the Canon 100d, nice 'big' sensor and a real view finder. It not a lot bigger than my Olympus Pen.

And you did this based on image quality or price?

I'm super happy to see some decent competition in the smaller end of the market - if the vendors see this as a market wirth going for then we all benefit as consumers.

I love my m4/3 kit - it's great for what I want, small, light and good enough image quality for anything I want to do. A small DSLR would probably hit most of those check points too  as might a big sensor fixed lens camera (I just bought a sigma DP3M - utterly awesome camera).

I love having choices..

The biggest of the 4/3 range now overlaps with the smallest of the APS cameras, and has image quality on a par with the cameras in its price range from any format. That's great. It doesn't have as good IQ as cameras which cost a lot more or weight and bulk very much more. That's also good.

I love having choices.

I dont see why it becomes all competitive around formats. None is perfect. Why do people become emotionally vested?

Some people have a lot of insecurities around the choices and decisions they make and/or feel a need to justify them.  If you don't make those same choices, you're "wrong".

I have not been happy with the low light performance on my Olympus, but love it's colour. I had been looking at the options from Sony/Fuji etc. The little Canon seemed a good balance to fit with the rest of my gear.

Interesting size comparison with the pen. What does a top view look like? I'm guessing the cannon is a fair bit chubbier because of the mirrorbox?

You fail to see my point.

Mirrorless is NOT out to take over or match DSLR sales, it's a niche market.

Right now major companies are trying out their versions and the more successful ones like Leica, Fuji and Olympus are treading lightly on this because DSLRs are the "go to" cameras and are very established where the Mirrorless interchangable systems are still new and technology is slowly growing and hasn't caught footing in the conscience of the average consumer.

I don't know if it ever will or if it'll just stay a niche market like 35mm rangefinders were to 35mm SLRs.

All I know is that my new Fuji X-E1 is an amazing machine and blows my D200 out of the water in PQ and low light situations even with manual M lenses on it... And the controls are basic and reminiscent of my old film cameras with full options of auto controls with a quick setting.
The camera enthusiasts i talk to are looking at some of these cameras with great interest, some have made the leap.

I think companies like Fuji who spends time and money on things like what they did in the XF systems will benefit, maybe not greatly but enough to get the ball rolling for that small side market.

But so BIG!

I'd rather take a smaller camera that has a REAL 100%-view Pentaprism viewfinder ;P

Much smaller than it appears here..shot up close with a Samsung phone...the pretty gal holding it for me is tiny and she found it really easy to hold and operate.
