I'm thinking about trying out some art nude photography, and I need references of good shots, good angles, good pictures. What is your favorite art nude and why? Link it in this thread and maybe give some feed back as to why you like it.

I like this:

I love the angles the models create being locked together, I love the light, it's nice and smooth, and I think it's entire composition is just dead on.

"Art Nudes" is a pretty broad subject and I recommend that you try to figure out in your own mind what type of nude subject matter appeals to you. The image you link is not necessarily a simple one to try as it obviously took special care/attention to the attire that the models are wearing.  If you are looking at just starting out, you should probably start simple and work your way up.

What appeals to others won't necessarily appeal to you, and you're likely to get too many different type of responses to your question.  I recommend that you look at the work of some of great nude photographers in the past (and present) and see what if anything appeals to you.  Look at photographers like Ruth Bernhard, Bill Brandt, Helmut Newton, Edward Weston, his grandson Kim Weston (who is here on MM), Ralph Gibson, and others to determine if the more classic style nude is right for you or if you want to go more modern (there are many other very talented art nude photographers here on MM and it's not hard to find them).

What I would recommend you do your first time or two is to find a few images that other photographers have done that you really like, and try to re-create them yourself.  They won't turn out nearly as good, but you will learn things in the process.  This is how I first started out.  I didn't really know what style appealed to me, so I tried a little of everything.  I gradually got to where I was coming up with creative ideas myself and imitating others gradually went by the wayside.

Hope this helps.

That's what I was hoping to do with this thread, by looking through what others like.

OK here's a start.  I've always liked this image by Kim Weston.  I love the composition with the angular lines and shapes created.  Kim is also  a fabulous printer and his images look wonderful in person.

I'll try to post some more tomorrow.

Image is +18 of course.

Here's one from Alien Life.  Great backlighting and I love the creative use of depth of field.

Is it art of some model just standing around nude.
Is it art or just a b/w conversion where the black slider has been pulled...wanged.

... something to think about.

Nice image from Phillip Ritchie.  Love the concept and interplay between te model and her reflection.

Even though I'm a B&W film guy, I love this image - awesome digital work.

I personally hate the term "art nude", but here is probably the closest I've ever gotten to this "genre": https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/33988901 18+
