Anthony Anderson and Melissa Joan Hart are doing WalMart commercials for the holidays. Have you seen these? One of them has the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard of. “To get a juicy turkey, cook it upside down. After an hour turn it top side up for an amazingly juicy bird!

Can you imagine the Emergency Room phone calls starting around 12 noon Thanksgiving day?

“OOOH GOD I’m burning, I’m burning!!! I turned my bird upside down and molten hot liquid poured down my arms. OHHHHH God the pain, the horrible horrible pain.!!!!”

The agency that did this for Wal-Mart is NBS. They should be shot for telling these people to do something this stupid.

facepalm
Stupid?

Have you ever cooked a turkey? Do you know how long a medium to large bird takes to cook or how much juices emanate in the only the first hour?

No I cannot imagine.

Just cook it upside down and be done with it.

Yes, people are much better attempting to deep fry a wet, half frozen turkey in an over-filled pot set really, really close to the house or garage.

What could go wrong?

But, I see your point and anticipate lots of law suits.

No, I can't imagine many people badly burning themselves simply turning over a turkey.

Sorry.

Sheeeet............. I thought she was going to try and flip it like an omelet. Now THAT would have been lawsuit city!

BTW, don't you guys in America have, or use, oven roasting bags for those large feathered critters? Bird goes in the bag; tie the bag closed; bird + bag goes in the oven............ wait for the appropriate cooking time............ bird + bag come out of the oven; slit the bag open and eat. DONE!

At least they didn't offer advice on how to go out and shoot your own turkey.

OF COURSE NOT! The way you normally cook a turkey is you fill a giant put all the way to the top with peanut oil and set the propane burner underneath to Saturn V Rocket Power and get it up to around 400 degrees. Make sure you this right in the middle of your living room by the way. Then you take the bird, still soaking wet from thawing, and dunk it very quickly in the pot. Be sure to stand right next to the pot when you do this so the molten oil will splash out all over the floor and on to yourself, and as you jump around in seething agony as your flesh undergoes 3rd degree burns, be sure to knock over everything so the hot, combustible oil pours onto the flame so you can start a fire and burn your house down.

Sadly, people have actually done this.

Totally. I love it when idiots play with turkeys and fire on their WOOD deck...

And then there are the idiots who do it barefoot...

And lest we forget the ones who do it in the garage:
