How come every time I go in a store people ask me where shit is?

When I'm forced to ask other customers for help, I start with "I know you don't work here..."

Try it.

It's usually confusion, followed by "Oh shit, you don't work here, I'm an idiot"

What do you do when they ask you to sign for a delivery, or do something security related?
Then 1 minute later someone else asks you where something is.

Thats when it drives me nuts.

They wouldn't ask a skinny girl about security stuff (if you saw me in person you'd understand).
But I'd still direct the deliverer to an employee and direct the customer to... Whatever.
I have a job filled with showing people where things are and how to use printers/computers so I guess I'm used to it.

So I guess women being catcalled should shrug it off because responding unfavorably is childish, and they should learn not to be annoyed by it... you know, because human beings are responsible for tolerating other people's bullshit all day long without complaint, even if it makes the person feel harassed.

Got it.

*thumbs up*

edit: I'm not saying be abusive in return of an innocent question in a store, but people should not be chastised for being annoyed by the behavior of others.

Wonderful example of empowering pettiness.  Drama Queens welcome here!  Now, asking someone 'Do you work here?' is harassment.  Where's my civil rights lawyer?  Where's the sigh up sheets for the protests?  Really?

It's possible. I tend to wear plain, dark colors. I'm guessing it's something to do with clothing.

Dang, right there, that's the answer, folks: stop wearing clothing. Shuts the discussion about whether you work there right down. Also the questions about where things are.

It was important that they find out quickly where the bathroom was.   big_smile
