Can't even get TFP shoots these days! I feel I am caught in a rut. I believe I will have to change my style...maybe less/better post production? I dunno... I am hobbyist but always to up skill. Recently moved to VIP so threw a lot of images up into here...gladly toss out the dogs!

any help will be appreciated...Ant.

Nice port, the post is just fine. 2 suggestions. Perhaps change your "about me" to something a little more normal as it might be scaring away some models and is your name really "Ant"? If not perhaps use your real name and when you meet for the shoot you can throw in the please just  call me "Ant".

yes I agree with the "about me" I will do some thing a little more normal, Ant is my name, although an Abbreviation.

What are you asking for in exchange for TFP?  It's important to understand that the more specific the project you have in mind is, the less likely it will be useful to a model's portfolio.  Your portfolio is mainly "alt" style.  There's nothing wrong with that, but it is a niche market, and means models who aren't alt models will be unlikely to be interested in working with you.  The issue with finding alt models to work with is that they tend to have very high wardrobe costs, and are less likely to do TF because of this.  Most of them are also pursuing publication, which works against you if you are just a hobbyist.

Concept Portraits Album:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37589695 I don't love the result, but I think this is an interesting idea: she looks like a paper cut out in an almost intentional way, and think you can experiment with that idea further if that is your intent.  If it isn't: she looks like a paper cut out.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37589693
It looks like you slapped a hazy grainy filter over an image that was initially not well lit or interesting in an attempt to save it.  Work on making the initial image good, and then enhance with filters.  You've got all this beautiful landscape, and then your model is huge and smushed in the side with both her hands cut off.  It feels like you didn't think about the framing of this shot.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37589691
This is a nice job on your part, but her roots kill it for me.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37589689
Say no to selective coloring.  Again, looks like you tried to save a bad pic with filters.  Trash this.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37567627
I think this is very cool.  Nice work.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37567625
Another weird framing.  Would have more impact if vertical and cropped closer.  But I also hate the make-up job: she looks like a clown.  And not a cool clown.  Like a foolish clown.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37560463
Weird framing.  There are wings on her back, but you've cut them out.  If you're not going to shoot them, take them off.  Lighting is very flat.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37560462
Gorgeous.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37560461
Same styling as above image but not as good.  Trash it.  You only need one great image per look, maybe two if there are two that are equally great.  Kill your lesser darlings.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37560460
Make-up is back to looking clown-like again.  This looks simultaneously too edited and not edited enough.  As a beauty image, it needs a lot of skin work, but already looks blurred in places (don't use blur).

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37549066
I love the filter but the image it's over looks like a throw away image again.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37549065
Weird framing clown face.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37549064
Needs post to work as a beauty shot.  Something has gone horribly wrong with the reflection of your lighting and her eyes.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37225213
Love everything you've done as a photographer but her make-up kills it (does she have Pipi Longstocking-esque freckles drawn on?)

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37225209
Very cool, but I don't think the eye make-up works.  I get that she's supposed to look skull-like, but it looks amateurishly done.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37225207
This beautiful.  But it's a photographer's shot, and would be useless in a model's portfolio.

*So even having only gotten this far into your port, I can say from a model's perspective, the reason you may be having trouble getting TF shoots is that it's clear you have talent, but can;t deliver on a consistent basis.  A model doesn't want to take a risk on someone like that, because TF is such a crap shoot to begin with.*

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37225206
Make-up hate.  Half-cropped out handcuffs.  Concept: unclear.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167126
Unflattering to model's body and face ("dirt" settles into wrinkles she doesn't have).  Facial expression doesn't match scene.  Looks like you tried to save image by converting to black and white (bad color temp on bathroom lights?).  Flat lighting, thoughtlessly framed.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167124
Needs a lot of post, particularly stray hairs everywhere.  Skin looks blurred but there are bags ander her eyes.  Lowered eyes does nothing to add to image; she looks like she's in mid-blink, not introspective like I think you think she does.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167123
Interesting idea, but I don't see the point.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167122
This is pretty.  I'm not crazy about the framing (the amputated hands suddenly in frame), but I don't hate it.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167121
Way too close.  Way too weirdly framed.  Way too unflattering to your model's skin.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167119
Cropped too tight.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37141659
Cool idea, but doesn't work as a disembodied head: needs more body parts coming through water, or something else to fill frame.  Person in bath of milk is a shot that's done a lot, and it just doesn't work here.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37141658
Make-up looks amateur/unflattering.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37141657
Weird crop/framing.  See previous comment about milk baths.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37092647
Pretty but all of her limbs are amputated.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37092644
Lighting bad.  b&w and filter doesn't save.  Model in motion and you've caught her in an awkward position.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37092640
Pretty.  Cool concept.  You could have framed this much better.  Toes cut off.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37092637
Fine.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37077356
I have to crane my neck to see this.  Unflattering to model's face.  Hands look super awkward.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37077355
Pretty, but house clutters background behind model's head.  Unflattering shadows on model's face.  Fabric has obvious creases and wrinkles and is bunched weirdly around her feet.  Not a great pose either.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37077354
Fine.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37077350
Looks like you tried to save an out of focus picture with the selective focus tool.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37077348
Great location, terrible pose: hands curled into fistclaws.  Bad shadows cast on model's chest.  Not a good angle for that mask.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37077345
Really pretty.  Painterly effect/filter really works with it.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846259
Awesome.  Great portrait for this guy.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846258
Him being soft focus doesn't work.  He's the one doing something, and should be the focus, but she is because: boobs.  Slightly Dutch Angled; would look better if it wasn't.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846257
Washed out, snap-shot-y.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846256
Love it, but I bet he wishes there was some post work under the eyes.

You have so many photos and I'm already exhausted looking at them.  I may do more later, but I hope this is helpful so far.

Okay more.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846254
Snap shot with a filter.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846253
Cool, but possibly cooler without filter.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846251
Incredibly unflattering facial expression on a beautiful woman.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846248
Weird facial expression.  He looks like he's thinking: "I hope this photographer leaves me alone soon."

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846244
A little too heavy on the filter, but still a good shot.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36846239
Love that floor, but his facial expression ruins it.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36778269
Beautiful piece of art.  Useless to model unless model is ram skull.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36778267
Like the idea but lighting is flat.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36670351
Great.  Tells an interesting story.  I hope that story is "I do not want this man to touch me", because that's what her face says.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36670299
Weird frame/crop.  Female model in super unflattering position/angle.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36670298
Weird distracting spear thing in background.  Crazy eyes.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598688
Cool.  Useless to a model.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598687
This make-up does not belong in that location.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598686
Cool horror image.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598685
PLEASE no selective coloring.  It is not 1993.  And I hate the framing.  That you can see that chunk of black.  That it's slightly Dutch-ed.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598684
Nice editorial fashion image!

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598683
She looks photoshopped into the image.  I don't think the shoulder up works.  Her dress is blowing out like she has an enormous erection.  It's like you had this beautiful landscape and you care more about it than her.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598620
Love it.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598619
I don't understand it but I like it anyway.  Useless to a model's portfolio.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598615
Just a blurry hazy pointless weirdly framed trash it.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598613
I LOVE THIS.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598607
Could have been framed better but beautiful.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598601
Pointless.  The back of a woman and a bird?  Jaundice filter?  Why?

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597547
Pretty lolli shot.  The light is very harsh on those rocks and her shoes and it cheapens the effect a little over all.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597505
Great horror.  Useless to a model.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597504
Beautiful, but could use some post work on her face.  The filter has taken her skin very pink, and there's a shadow/light situation by her mouth and on her nose that's unflattering.  Chin blown out.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597502
Interesting.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597501
Is this a photoshop?  Interesting idea.  I'd like to see either more or less of her body.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597500
Pretty.  I don't know that the filter adds anything.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597499
This is a blurry blue blob :

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597495
Waaaaaaaay over shopped for seemingly not reason.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597492
Headshots of a terrifying clown.  Well they're well done headshots, but too commercial for the subject.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597491
These are pretty but you only need one.  They're all weirdly framed.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36592811
Didn't I already see this picture?  No her facial expression is slightly different.  Now she looks like she just took a Valium.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36433986
I don't get it.  Flowered dress (or is it a bedsheet?).  Chains.  Make-up is also awful.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36433979
Still don't love the make-up, but it shoots better here.  The image/wardrobe just looks too soft for such a futuristic look for me.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36326672
Looks like it was taken between poses.  Like she's mid-reaching up to fix her hair or she got something in her eye.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36224663
Good image but her face is a different color from the rest of her body.  If that was intentional it doesn't look intentional.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36216928
Funny!  Poorly framed.  They're squished to one side and threatening to slide out.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36216920
Nice but I don't think that filter works with that dude.  If you are looking to get more tf work with female models this dude should not be in your port at all.  Sorry.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/32580716
Pretty.  A lot of dead space, but I don't dislike it as much as I do in some of your other images.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/31781790
Great concept.  The lighting doesn't look great.  The filter didn't fix it.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/31699982
Pretty but it seems like there were lighting issues that the filter covered.  Like it looks like the image might have been blown out?  Perilously close to selective coloring.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30837063
I should love this but I don't and I can'y put my finger on why.  I'm sorry.  I think it's the lighting.  Or maybe the blue backdrop.  Something just isn't working for me.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30758207
I hate that you can see the fan and that you cut her off at the knees.  But I don't mind the near selective coloring.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/29980085
Focus not sharp.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/29654794
Really cool.  Useless to a model's port.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/28777985
Again: I want to love, but I don't, and it's something about the lighting.  It's both blown out and flat.

So that's one of your albums.  I stand by my diagnosis: "I can say from a model's perspective, the reason you may be having trouble getting TF shoots is that it's clear you have talent, but can;t deliver on a consistent basis.  A model doesn't want to take a risk on someone like that, because TF is such a crap shoot to begin with."  Also note how many of your images I consider photographers' images that would do nothing for a model's port.

Fashion Album:
You only have one image that is fashion in your fashion album and it is this one: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/33536977
It's great.
The rest of the images are portraits.  You can shoot someone's whole body, and it can still be a portrait.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167139
Why is this sideways?

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167137
This is terrible.  The lighting is terrible.  She looks like she has a 5 o'clock shadow and is about to puke.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37167135
Unflattering expression, but otherwise nice.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36921856
Weirdly framed, commercially lit pic of a ram skull.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36921854
Nice commercial image, but the accessories don't really belong in a commercial image.  Her legs are very blotchy.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36921853
Same as previous which means ditch one.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36920297
Nice beauty image.  Crop closer.  Needs post, particularly under eyes.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36920295
That weird framing you seem to love.  Pretty commercial image.  Lighting a little flat.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36920294
Lighting terrible, her hair looks awful, but this is well framed for once.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36761140
You have another image of this same model in a similar pose and I don't understand that one either.  Super unflattering facial expression.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36615924
Very commercially lit, and watch out for that shadow on the wall behind her: that comes up later in your port.  If you're going to have something like that it needs to look very intentional.  Shirt is bunched up around her waist giving her fat rolls, hair is a mess.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36615923
eye make-up a hot mess, lashes particularly.  Very close and model's skin can't take it without post.  Tons of fly away hairs.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36615922
All kinds of shadowy nonsense, hair in her mouth, pants obviously don't fit correctly, no hands, snap shot lighting.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36615921
Very nice portrait.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36615919
Really awkward facial expression.  Flat lighting.  Lamp cord all up in there like you didn't give a crap.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36615918
"Why are you making me pose like this?  God I hate you", says her face.  Ill fitting pants and sweater.  Most jackets are not made to have the inside lining of them shown, so it's generally avoided.  Fingers cut off, wall shadow.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36598612
Her facial expression is too soft for the lighting and wadrobe.  The position of her arms is awkwardly, like she's trying desperately not to show nip.  Lighting makes harsh shadows on face.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36597546
see how you can more white around one eye than the other?  It makes her look wall-eyed.  Her face is round and the lighting hasn't done her any favors.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36541375
I literally already saw this photo.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36496701
I know you softened the focus, but it seems overly soft.  The filter doesn't add anything.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/35369070
Beautiful portrait.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/34921003
I love the idea but her expression is very hard.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/33491959
The lighting is very harsh on her face, and makes her nose look like a pig snout.  There's also an unflattering shadow next to it.

Wow! Thanks very much...sorry for giving you a headache! Yep all valid points...I do quite a bit of behind the scenes photography where I take pix of the cast n crew, so some are just snapshots of them between takes and in character.
Yes I can see what you mean with the model actually getting very little out of a shoot with me, although they get to choose all their fav images and offer pretty fast turnaround.
With the finishes I can get wrapped up in the image using many layers and gradients...Admittedly, I literally did shove a whole lot of images up here just to get my $10's per month worth smile So, it does give a lot to ponder going into the New year...Definitely, will do a cull...again thanks for your time and skill. smile

Ant,

1. Like the others said, in the intro, introduce yourself in plain English and describe what sets you apart and what projects you're looking to execute in the future. Succinctly. Don't try to impress anyone with your intro's language - that's what your port is for.

2. These shots don't do it for me, on the account of the model's expression not selling the shot; I'd replace them:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37752866
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/37752780

3. You demonstrate a very strong potential in several styles - but several lack oomph because they seem like one-offs of a photographer who's in flux, adrift. Maybe group them into folders / collections or something. Or if you only have one, shoot some more in that style. Put main emphasis on the energy in the shot rather than accessories or location or processing.

Cheers!
Sasha
