I am using Photoshop CC, I have 3 different size files,  3008 x 2000, 4928 x 3264 & 6000 x 4000, mixed with vertical and horizontal images, all in the same folder from the same shoot, 3 different cameras, I want to output jpegs all of the same size  using batch process, for example the final output size will be 1200 along the long side, normally, when I  output jpegs from a single file size/camera and mixed vertical and horizontal orientations I use the percentage ( % ) resize and it make all of the files the same size, however the percentage resize will not work with mixed image sizes, I know how to setup actions, automation and batch processing.

How do I take 3 different image sizes and mixed orientation and output them so that they are all the same size along either the short or long edge using batch process?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Leo

Try File/Automate/Image Processor. Set up your parameters and go from there.

You may prefer this freeware http://www.fsoft.it/Imaging/en/DownloadPrg.htm
as it will not create banding like Photoshop Bicubic...
See http://www.fsoft.it/Imaging/en/Esempi.htm

Or this other freeware http://www.faststone.org/

Make three actions for each size needed, then create droplets for those actions: http://m.dummies.com/how-to/content/how … p-cs6.html

Agreed. Image Processor is the easiest way.

If you're creating specific actions, use File>Automate>Fit Image, and set both limits to 1200. That resizes the image(s) to have 1200 pixels on the long edge (or both, if it's square).

I will have to look at these options, thanks

That seems to have been the missing parameter for making this work, thanks for the info, I truly appreciate it

An overlooked addition to actions is "Conditional mode" this is the ideal situation to use it to accurately assess the document dimensions.
So write a action for Landscape and Portrait and apply them within the action as a "Insert Conditional"
Then using the Landscape conditional mode if landscape apply or etc.
Very useful when combined with fit image.

I realize that you said you use PS CC. Did you get Lightroom as well? Because if you import all the photos into a Lightroom catalog, you can then export them and set a specific size "on the long edge". Meaning, portrait or landscape, the images will be the same size, even if the orientation is different.

I did get LR and Bridge, I don't like LR at all, I tried it for a little over a year and just dont like it, I much prefer Bridge and that is what I use.

Kevin's option resolved the issue and is a very simple option to use.
