Hi fellow MM'er Has been a while since I did a major overhaul on my portfolio would like thoughts on strongest and weakest images and do I have to many of one style or another. Point out any you really like or any that send you running off screaming. You can leave comments on the images makes it easier for me to see what draws your comments Thanks George McMahon Apr 01 15 02:20 pm Link 300 images?! I'd definitely say it's time to revamp, and cut that down to under a 100! Apr 01 15 02:27 pm Link Absolutely. Too many images overall, and too many very similar. (But nice enough overall.) I can only speak for myself, but I give up watching a portfolio after the first page or so unless those couple of pages are so varied and interesting that I get curious to see what else might be coming. Apr 01 15 03:17 pm Link if you really want to get a new lease on things, you need to dump everything and start fresh, refusing to do anything you have done in the past, from lens choice to lighting set up. All your shots are repeated over and over, that's fine if you are commercial shooter and specialize, but if this is to open NEW doors, then you can only do that by starting fresh. I have taught classes on rediscovery and simply putting a new face into the same box will never yield anything new as far a creation. It will be the most fun you will have. Most people will not look at 300 images in a port. Apr 03 15 03:37 am Link Apr 03 15 06:26 am Link Catch The Light wrote: Too many images for me to sift through. At a glance, they're not all bad, but if you can't or simply won't narrow it down to under 100 forget about it. Apr 03 15 11:21 am Link Catch, You wrote this in another thread that you started called Helping the new Model, "As a long time MM'er I have seen thousands of portfolios I thought it would be helpful to make a recommendation to models in selecting what images should go in there book. I am not speaking in regard to the creative concept of a shot but more about the technical elements of the shot. I seen many images with issues that seem to repeat over and over again. .. As a model portfolio is her primary marketing tool the goal should be to only include the best images. So here is my two cents on what should be considered and not be included in a book...Also more is not necessarily better 4 great images are better than 10 mediocre images. A portfolio should always be updated..." To read that and then see your MM portfolio with 288 photos, many of them mediocre at best, and showing redundant image after image, man I had to laugh. You should take your own advice and cull your port down to about 30 photos. And learn how to color balance skin tones. Apr 03 15 01:04 pm Link |
