Film Camera and Polaroid Back
Hello guys, I have a Polaroid back, the FP-145 which I am looking to use but can not find any guaranteed supported camera bodies. Can anyone recommend any bodies that will allow this attachment, the ideal body/lense would allow the following: minimum of f/2.8 ideally f/1.8 focal length equivalent of 35mm Regards, Jul 17 15 06:00 am Link Jul 17 15 07:22 am Link Cart before the horse eh??:-)) Jul 17 15 07:28 am Link is this possibly a PA-145? That would be a pack-film holder for a 4x5 camera. What size is the opening? medium format sized? 4x5 sized? To me it seems like you have a $100-200 plastic box and you are wondering what $2000-4000 system to buy in order to use it. Seems counter intuitive to me. There are better options for Polaroid/Instant film. Jul 17 15 07:31 am Link If it is the PA-145 you can still buy Fuji film for it, color only for a pack of 10 shots for about $9 at B&H. http://www.apug.org/forums/forum433/118 … 145-a.html The film pack will fit most 4x5s with a spring back. If you can find an adapter you can mount it to most cameras, although it would probably be cheaper to look on EBay for a back with adapter. Jul 17 15 07:58 am Link Hi Guys, I think you've misunderstood my post. It's not cart before horse, this was given to me by another photographer who was having a clear out of old equipment, I like the idea of shooting polaroid but want a shallow depth of field look so not after any generic instant camera. Your correct its the PA-145, that was a typo saying it was an FP-145. The question is not about the film, I will be using Fujifilm FP-100c The cost of the body is of no concern to me, I am will to pay the cost for a decent body that will last for years. Jul 17 15 08:14 am Link Before you go any further do you have film for it? Fuji has stopped making a lot of films and I believe the film this takes is no longer produced. But, it only fits 4x5 cameras. A Speedgraphic would work as well. A 35mm lens equivalent on a 4x5 would be around a 110mm or 120mm. But f/5.6 is the usual starting point with large format lenses. Even the best ones. Realize the DOF decreases as the format get larger. Jul 17 15 10:12 am Link kberryphotography wrote: Nope, I think we all pretty much understood it. I think you don't fully understand the use of the piece of equipment you possess. If you are seeking a Polaroid/Fuji Instant solution, a Mamiya Universal Press/Polaroid 600SE camera with Polaroid/Fuji pack film back is a better solution. Jul 17 15 12:43 pm Link go try to find a large format lens of f1.8 or hell...2.8 I think areo ektars are f2.5.. and you can get one fitted onto a 4x5 speed graphic.. that you will need as the lens has no shutter that will set you back 1500 plus and of course the film isn't 4x5 in size..it's 2.25 x 2.75 maybe.. something like that I have that back, I shoot that film..mostly for testing lenses Jul 17 15 03:26 pm Link Should be a Graflok holder so anything with a Graflok back should work. Like a Speed Graphic with Graflok, or Sinar, Toyo-View, etc. Will not work with a spring back so be carefull. Jul 18 15 07:31 am Link Why 1.8 or 2.8? If it's because of the light conditions you have a problem. There are almost no lenses that fast for 4x5. But if it's for dept of field than you have to realize that 5.6 could give the same result as a faster lens on a 35mm system. Jul 18 15 08:52 am Link I'm using fast projection lenses with my PA-145 on my Speed Graphic. 5 - 9". 2.8, 3.5, 4.5. The focal plane shutter allows the use of any lens. Some of them offer up vignetting mind you, as you're shooting wide open. Jul 26 15 03:57 pm Link |
