I used Gamma in Chicago throughout the 90s (I was processing primarily Kodachrome - which is REAL tough for a lab to get right consistently) and they got it right day in and day out. I think they're still in business - and you being in Wisconsin you're within shouting distance.

it depends on what you need done. for prints, blue cube has be absolutely consistent and great customer service and quality. if you need film processing that's a whole different ball game.

always much preferred kodak processing for kodachrome. everyone else couldn't get the d-max nor color right. and it was easy. i would buy the prepaid mailers. the film in the mails would either:

1. call and drop off at hollywood processing, if after hours, an employee would come to the door and take film directly to machine and I could pick up the next morning.

2. call Star at Fairlawn plant and ask for nearest pickup location and pickup time, drop mailers into the local pickup bag before the pickup time which got it to the Fairlawn plant that night and was back in the delivery bag to the location the next morning or in the mail to me, whichever I needed.

Another shout for Blue Cube Imaging.

Although I have not used them extensively everything I have received from them has been absolutely spot on.

Great quality and price, and next day service.   They also print nudes and the sexier themes with no problems or questions.

It would help if the OP defined his use of the word 'lab' - when I think of a photo lab I think of film development, Internegs, custom development, not just prints.

They print for the Annenberg Center for Photography.

If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

I also use http://prolabdigital.com/  Great quality as well. I work with them for prints that go beyond the 48" width, as well as prints on non-traditional materials.

Don't they have a $12 print order minimum anyway?

I do use WHCC.  Never a problem.  A big favorite of portrait studios.

I recently had a gallery showing of over 50 large prints in both color and B&W.

Most were 30"x45" (some much larger)

Blue Cube did an outstanding job in both their printing and service.

Can't say enough good things about them . . .
