Easy 36" of snow, the neighbor offered his kids to remove. The cars are buried above their hoods.

Yes! It's something I had done when I was young to get a quarter. The joy of working, helping and getting a reward in the end.

10-4. thanks. i'll pass that along, so she can try it tomorrow. will the snow "blink" if she hits it too hard? or can she just throw a gray card in the viewfinder to meter?

the default camera app doesn't do that. She can use a card to meter.

Just lock focus on the scene and then hold the card in view while she adjusts exposure. Might take a bit of dexterity if she can't rest the card on something but it'll work.

I've just learned that the plan of attack by the local Municipality here is to wait 'til the Snow ends before sending out the Plows, problem is it hasn't stopped snowing and isn't supposed to stop until early Tomorrow morning.

Genius!

Snow is knee deep - 20" and still coming down. This place is battle zone right now.

So by the time that the plows do come out, there won't be even paths and the drivers won't be able to tell where the parked cars are under the snow.

If you try this (not recommended), don't let off the gas.  If you don't have enough exhaust pressure to keep the water from flowing into your tail pipe, you are done.

Thanks Jerry!  I drove to Birmingham, AL today. The only bad section was as I passed into Tenneessee and continued through Nashville. The sides of the highway were littered with cars and overturned semis.  There were icy spots where traffic inched through, but it was mostly just because people were being over careful.

W/o power, they probably won't have heat. W/o heat, they'll be looking at all sorts of problems. sad

A friend called me from Spring Hill, FL tonight.  He said that they were expecting freezing temperatures overnight.

I have drifts of nearly 4' of snow on my deck, which needs to be cleared. But, thanks to the strong winds I have less than 15" of snow on my driveway. And almost no snow on my Jeep. And, by some miracle, the plow drivers actually cleared out the lower hard-packed snow from my driveway. I could just start my car and go!

It happens!!

It's only 36 right now in Destin where I am headed, although it will be 50 when I get there!

Birmingham is 23 so I guess I can't get my car washed before I get out on the road!

Originally the storm was supposed to stay over Washington/Baltimore until 6am Sunday. However, it moved north and spread extra love on philly and NYC instead. It was done snowing in Baltimore by 9/10:00pm on Sat. Thankfully.

I just went out to clean snow from my car and make a path to get out.
Snow is fluffy and was easy to get out of the way.  Good thing it's not freezing.

Well.... everyone got lots of snow, I got some but not as much as in the past like in the 1996.

We got snow drift of about 2 ft, some spot has no snow.  The temp is not that cold, so there is not much of dangerous factor.  In a day of two, the temp will go up to 40's.

Here a few snap shots at the house.

We got most of the snow at our back porch

In the open field back of house, the snow is about 12 to 18 inches.

Well, the cleanup down here is not going well. Snow plows are getting stuck all over the place. The Federal Govt is closed on Monday (keeping about 80,000 cars off the road). Let's see what happens on Tues...

Went to work this morning.  The main and primary roads were pretty much clean an dry.  Our county has a good track records of in doing their job.  But we have less streets to plow than the city.

The good thing for us was the snow stopped in mid day of Saturday, so the work crews had more than 36 hours to get the streets clean before Monday morning.  Without having cars parked on the street, the plow can do much better job cleaning up the streets.  The warm temperature and calm wind made the storm much more bearable than other.

All in all, in the past 5 years, we the folks live in north east of U.S., had a good blessing compared to those live in Mid West and other parts of the country.  I am not complaining at all, and I hope no one got hurt.
