I have a potential shoot for King Kong Magazine, but as I think it's new and possibly "underground", I've never heard of it. I Googled and only came up with this:

http://www.kingkongmagazine.com/

http://www.newnownext.com/nicola-formic … e/04/2016/

http://ftape.com/media/king-kong-magazine-issue-01/

The models seem too young, fit and androgynous for me to participate.

Maybe someone here knows more about the magazine or at least have an opinion on it?

Thanks in advance.

It's probably just another one of countless photographers that claim to publish a magazine in an attempt to impress others. It's not a new phenomenon. It's kind of standard, now a cliche.  The formula is an old and tired one:

Make a web page.
Call it a magazine.
Go out and brag to everyone that you're a publisher despite that it never has been and never will be printed.

Sometimes it's an honest effort where someone is actually attempting to start a real, legitimate publication, but more often than not it's simply someone trying to 'impress' their friends and family, and even more often it's a horny GWC trying to get laid by naive model wannabees or all out scam.

I guess it's about equivalent to being a 'journalist' for the Examiner.com which is simply people pretending to be employed by a newspaper (the examiner.com is not a real news organization... it's a blog with a news-company like name).

Your not new at this game.

When someone starts asking for funds from you...You scram the scam.

IF it is too good to be true, (like numbers) it is a lie.

I know a little bit about King Kong magazine(the one in your links).Their main focus is mens fashion and male models.Almost all of their photographers and stylist have celebrity clients. So it's not a "GWC" publication and they don't take submissions really.(Not a critique) But looking at your portfolio, I don't think your style fits this publication. But don't worry there are other magazines to get featured in.

Thanks.

I've worked Time For for this photog in the past and while there have been mild "issues" I trust him at least as far as he mostly does what he says. I have no reason to believe he is scamming me in any way, and you're right. I've been down this road (mostly in various video productions and spec commercials) that I know how things work and I NEVER pay for a job, period. I feel that if anyone is being fed a line, it is the photog and I hope that is not the case. While he's young and has lots to learn, he's nice enough,  works hard and doesn't seem to be deserving of getting screwed.

I was more curious about the "magazine" itself-is it for real, what it is and would they hire a model of my age and type (the shoot I was considered for was simply described as "dark", which I get a lot of call for). From the little I could see as far as regular opportunity there goes, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've seen plenty, on Instagram, of shots hashtagged for King Kong. Legitimate, talented photogs and models.

It's real.
