Here is your answer:

1) I believe that the number of photographers on this site who are going to behave sexually inappropriately is very small.

2) I believe the makeup of THAT group will be primarily made up of men as opposed to women.

Forget studies and anything else that has been previously written - on a gut level - do you suspect that both of these two statements are in all likelihood true?

Add to this
3) I believe that the number of  photographers (or people) that will pose a risk, (male or female) of the ones who have been properly vetted/checked out, by models beforehand, (as is an important part of all models' responsibilities) is substantially smaller than that of number 1).

Good Egg said it all, except for one thing.  Instagram is sketcheir and less professional  than mm by far.

Of course!

OK great. So we have some common ground.

Now explain to me (without being smug and sarcastic, please) how you can accept that approximately 95% of all inappropriate sexual behavior is done by males as opposed to 5% by females, and yet get so outraged when someone quotes from a study that says 96% of all convicted sexual predators are male and 4% are female.

Even though they are clearly talking about very different degrees of sexual misconduct, the stats would appear to show almost the exact same ratio of men to women as perpetrators that you yourself believe to be accurate.

Of course! And that is true for every single group of non-offenders everywhere. But no "gut level" analysis is needed - the facts bear this out. And that's what this topic has been all about so far - people's gut level BS being challenged by facts.

So why all this panic about predatory men on MM?  Here's why:

and this started the whole "MM is so dangerous and men are so sketchy" stuff, and that was continued by a stream of ignorant comments.

My concern was that this nonsense only serves to fuel the hysteria that so many of these young and inexperienced models have and enables all that "I must have an escort" stuff. That only male photographers were piling on and agreeing that photographers really ARE sketchy is an insult to all the hardworking and decent photographers on this site.

Some of you may not understand the damage you do when you say what you say.   Its telling that a female model is defending male photographers.   Want to know why in part female models avoid MM?   Look no further then fellow photographers.   Its they who are always saying be careful and don't work with so and so or the site is filled with predators.
A few weeks a model posted a thread where she said a photographer called her pretty and members raced to say he might be a GWC or worse.   Don't work with him was said.   MM is surreal.     So thanks guys.   Thanks for helping bring MM down.   Good job!
