About Me

UPDATE:
RELOCATED: Toledo, OH as of January 3, 2011. Still traveling to Columbus, and Cincinnati Ohio regularly! Working on my MBA in Marketing so I can better position myself to cater to commercial branding and Advertising.

Things are changing for me. I just published my first Haute Beauty Editorial with Dimension Magazine, and Haute Magazine, and now I'm hungry for bigger game. Next step: to be published with a larger circulated print magazine. I am building a list of models that I would like to draw from on an frequent basis. Chances are, if I contacted you, I would like nothing more for you to be on this list for myself, referrals, and most importantly to be a part of the portfolio that will get us to the top. I am currently working on building my creative team, creating editorials that will appeal to future AD clients, and publishing. I will no longer be available for anything other than fashion, model portfolios, and related portrait work. Keep an eye on my casting calls and as always I will begin a shoot list for the next five months for projects and prospective editorials. So contact me and lets make something astonishing. I rarely can afford to pay for any prospective models beyond expenses as I have not yet graduated from unpaid editorial submissions. I spend all my money on the sets, props, and equipment. If you are willing to work this way, you will be one of the lucky few that get to collaborate with me and produce some of the amazing imagery that I have in my port. Contact me if you have specific questions.

GENERAL BIO:
I am a 22 year-old professional, commercial photographer that is a force to reckon with. I have been photographing fashion for a little over a year. My images are normally not only conceptually sound but also technically competent as well. Right now I am building an arsenal of models to work with. Since working with Joyce Tenneson (www.tenneson.com), I have made several goals for this next year, that I am looking for models to help with. In a year I want to have completed my identity project (see below) enough that I can create a book and approach a gallery, and publish an editorial spread in a smaller circulated niche magazine (status: accomplished). What I am looking for as of right now are aspiring models in search of sharing a common goal. I am looking to make highly conceptual commercial images with the professional finesse of my mentors, and also models who want to build their portfolio. I am willing to give my models my services for free if they are willing to do the same for me (aka: TFP-Time For Prints). I am also looking for stylists for hair and outfits (again tfp). As a photographer I am drawn to muted color palettes, the juxtapose of my images between feminine and architectural/masculine. Please contact me by email if you are interested ([email protected])

CASTING:
A CALL FOR MODELS
About:
I am looking for many new male and female models. I have a lot of styled commercial shoots I want to do this winter and I need some new faces for the jobs. If you are interested in a specific shoot please send me a message with your contact information, the shoot you are interested in, experience, availability and terms. Shoots are on a TFP or paid basis. For TFP the idea has to be intruiging, if it is just for headshots then please refer to my pricing on my blog at www.kelseylakia.blogspot.com. If you are a model and want to get your book started please message me about rates I am incredibly reasonable. Thank you everyone (old and new) for your interest, and I look forward to working with you.

Note: THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WORKING WITH ME
1- Approaching me should always be professional. Your respect automatically earns mine.

2- If you are serious about working with me I have to have your phone number. I expect within the first few exchanges to have your number. If you have hesitations for security reasons I am happy to give professional reputable references (Duncan Snyder, Scott Cunningham, Steve Webster, Ian Londin, Stephanie Matthews to name just a few)

3- When handling shoots, it is best to call me and then email me to confirm in writing. Especially when canceling DO NOT email me on model mayhem.

4- I am very friendly and understanding to work with. I am very skilled with makeup and hair and style most of my shoots. I am good about being punctual but I have times when things don't make it into my planner but I normally catch them before they become a problem. I understand these mistakes, I am human too, but above all else the only thing I stress is professionalism.

Fine Art IMMEDIATE NEED:
I am in need of models-females -sorry guys- to participate in a series of fine art photo shoots. I am looking to do a female identity series. What I am going for is exploring the realm of self expression through clothing and personal style, along with the truth of the nude/attitude of the body language of the body, and elegance of forms. I am looking to expose what lies beneath the commercial material expression (clothing, hairstyles, jewelry) and the beauty that we normally cover up.
I am planning on approaching this by finding old walls that exude a sense of vulnerability and history, and posing the female nude in front. Its about to get confusing but I hope you will be able to follow. Before the actual shoot-the one I was describing with the walls- I will take digital pictures of you in a type of outfit that you feel best represents your sense of style. I will then have you do your makeup and hair how you would choose, then I would photograph you in the studio in the pose you would use later and make a copy on translucent material that I would use in the actual shoot. After I had the translucent print off of just your clothes (photoshopped out the body so its just the form of the material wrapped around your body) I would proceed to place you in the same pose, and project the image of your clothes on to your body. The image (like a silhouette) would be projected around your curves.
I am especially interested in the way that intricate shadows wrap around the curves and twists of the human body. I think its beautiful and somewhat melodious in its pattern. If this sounds like the sort of thing you might be interested please let me know. I realize its a sort of in depth explanation but I feel that exposing everything about yourself is a rather touchy topic and wish to treat it with the utmost respect and professionalism to avoid offense. As I said if you are interested please contact me soon. The shoots are in progress- my first this was wednesday- but will only go till the first week in December so please let me know what your weeks of November etc will look like. I only have school tues, wed, and Thurs. And work only sat morning, so I am pretty flexible. Also I am completely comfortable with anyone you would like to bring along for the shoots. I am good at finding discrete locations but am understanding of wanting to bring along someone for security and support. UPDATE: this series now has a sample image in my portfolio thanks to OdetteDespairr. Copy and paste the link to check it out. "I want to see, real, living, and in the hours of my own days, that glory I create as an illusion. I want it real. I want to know that there is someone, somewhere, who wants it, too. Or else what is the use of seeing it, and working, and burning oneself for an impossible vision? A spirit, too, needs fuel. It can run dry."
Ayn Rand

"Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary."
Cecil Beaton

"live a life as a monument to your soul."
Aynn Rand

"Dreams make you click, juice you, turn you on, excite the living daylights out of you. You cannot wait to get out of bed to continue pursuing your dream. The kind of dream I'm talking about gives meaning to your life. it is the ultimate motivator."
Jim Collins
