Hi everyone on MM!

Hello, my name is Brett Russell. I won the FDC Young Designer Awards in October 2006, at the age of 12, after designing and making two outfits based on 'Global Disasters'. Since that time i have created five collections: Dolly Breeze, Metal Funk, Glow, Back To The Future and Contour Seduisant.

I entered the 2008 Fashion Diversity Competition with my Back To The Future collection. The finals were held at the Museum of London on September 20th and following a unanimous decision from the judges, I won, beating nine other finalists. I captured the brief of the competition perfectly with my 1960s influenced collection. My prize money was £500 of which i put towards a short pattern cutting course at the V&A Museum, London. In February 2009, in conjunction with London Fashion Week i showcased with Fashion TV and won the Black Diamond Award for best designer of the night. Later on that year i was invited back to Fashion Diversity to showcase my most recent collection Contour Seduisant. In November 2009 i was invited to showcase at the Rich Mix fashion show.
Earlier this year, 2010, i was invited by Fashion TV to showcase at another London event.

I am currently studying at Highgate Wood School and along with my academic subjects i have taken Art, Drama, Media and Textiles as these subjects i feel will benefit me in my future career. I am going to stay on at Highgate Wood School for my A-levels. My aim is to be able to go to Central St Martins.

I have three great dreams. To have my collections appear in international Fashion Weeks. For my collections to be modeled by the likes of Naomi Campbell, Chanel Iman and Kate Moss, Finally to build a fashion house for the future, 'Brett Russell London'.
