With over eight years of make up artistry experience, Oz Rodriguez is the quintessential artist who pours his complete being into his projects. He has honed his skills and has developed a unique style, calling his company “Make Up is Art by Oz.”

His mantra makes claim that faces are in fact, blank canvases, ready to be filled with color, elements from nature and emotions felt by the human heart. By adding beauty to the world, his faces are dramatically enhanced or can be fresh and natural, bringing out the beautiful tones and features of his clients. His clients range from “sweet 16” to a great grandmother of eighty years old. He loves doing make up for fashion, bridal, actor talent, but mostly he enjoys just doing everyday “real” people. He loves making ordinary people look refreshed and extraordinary.

Oz is a good marketer, often going to entertainment industry events and has researched and connected with new professionals in the fashion world. He has worked with Kiam of Backstage Cosmetix, as well as upscale high-traffic make up counters for companies such as Yves St. Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Trish McVoy, and Le Metier de Beaute. His independent work includes assistant make up artist for Destiny’s Child (Fulfill), expressly for Beyonce’ Knowles through renowned make up artist Rudy Sotomayor. He also did make up for Lane Bryant and other New York City independent fashion shows and runway events. His recent film credit for make up and stylist was for “Secrets … in the room,” an experimental short film coming out in the summer of 2011.

Currently, he is in the process of designing new professional portfolio that brings hit vision to next level. He states, “I feel that I am very close to obtaining the desired essentials for my first portfolio; through the bumps and rocky roads, I believe I've reached that time where my confidence and devotion to my goal of showing the world my passion for make up is very strong and in a good place. I want others to experience themselves in a new light. Even if they are going out on the town, they can look and feel more confident, vibrant and beautiful.”

Being a full time arts major in Newtown High School of Art & Business before getting into the make up world, helped him hone his talent and to reach a level where he was able to confidently walk onto an independent film set and make up the actors and actresses.

He states, “My forte is very natural beauty stories to very well blended and exotic use of sharp techniques (lines, details). I have a gift and an eye for rich, vibrant colors and colors that take the eyes and imagination to different places. I am very patient and a perfectionist yet, I am able to team up and very easily unite with the photographer and other stylists on set. I would really like to get a bit more into freestyle make up where your eye can experience different brush strokes, art paintings on the face, and things of this sort…something out of the norm, or making a normal person look brilliant and unique.”

His long-term goal is to own a modeling agency and to design and develop colors and make up products for professional and consumer use. Oz Rodriguez currently resides in New York City and is available for all freelance make up projects. He can be reached at 347-419-7112.
