I am Brian Rauvola, founder of the Duluth Photography Institute. I have been a semi-professional photographer for over 18 years. Out of college, I started photographing portraits and weddings, plus took on photojournalism assignments. I opened HBR Studios in Two Harbors, successfully operating it for 15 years before moving into commercial photography, personal artwork, and teaching photography. I am partial to simple, black and white compositions involving natural shapes and textures, but also create images in other areas including fashion, fine art, landscape, night photography, macro, travel and more. I use both digital and large format film cameras and also teach workshops on photography and digital imaging software. My work has been in a variety of local exhibitions and publications.
