I lived and worked in Northern Virginia for over 40 years before moving to Santa Fe last summer.  I enjoy portraiture and figurative painting.  After studying art for one year at university, I pursued other things and (with rare exceptions) didn't draw or paint again for nearly 30 years.  I had always planned to paint when I retired.  I changed that plan in 2007 and picked up a few books from which I tried to learn what I could about the techniques of the old masters.  My wife gave me a wonderful gift at about the same time -- a three day Art League workshop with Robert Liberace.  (Great experience; highly recommended.)  Since then, I've painted whenever able during weekends and evenings.  I learn every time I pick up a brush.
