Emma Rose is a professional make-up and aspiring special effects artist whose vision of imagined beauty is inspired by horror, punk & goth subcultures and past eras of decadence and glamour.
Based in Victoria, Emma recently completed her Diploma of Specialist Make-up at The Australian College of Hair & Beauty where she developed a style deliciously unconventional and experimental.
Emma defines make-up as a way of initiating transformation and realising creation from pure nothingness. Her artistic visions are cultivated by hours spent experimenting on styles and effects, expressing ideas on her own skin, translating inspiration from cult movies, non-mainstream concepts and perceptions of subjective beauty.

She credits cult brand Illamasqua’s Alex Box as one of the ‘insanely talented artists’ whom she looks to for inspiration, crediting the brand for promoting make-up as an artistic medium. Emma also refers to the work of leading film special effects masters, Tom Savini, Greg Nicotero and Rob Bottin.
Although Emma’s greatest interest is in special effects, her artistic scope of work naturally comprises theatre, fashion, photography, film and bridal, where her value is to deliver and achieve the client’s vision. She recently worked on make-up for the Ballarat Academy of Burlesque, various pin-up style photo shoots and the elaborate theatrical make-up for Dusk till Dawn Productions’ 2011 Death to Carnivale! the horror gore musical.
Emma’s driving ambition is to learn advanced special effects make-up and contribute to film, while remaining actively involved in creative fashion and theatre projects. She welcomes all styles of make-up requests and is available to discuss original concepts for speciality work.
