About Me

I am a photographer and hair stylist in the Hollywood and fashion industry

Biography

In the elite world of hair styling, few people possess the zeal of Mitch Stone. His personal brand of seamless beauty, luxury and style is attributed not only to his natural talent, but also to his diverse interests in everything from writing and philanthropy to photography and surfing. Mitch possesses a unique combination of glamour, intellect and rugged appeal that has helped him create a diverse portfolio and enviable lifestyle.

Mitch spent his youth on the sunny beaches of Malibu, CA and was a Junior Olympic swimmer by the age of 12. This accomplishment, an honor in itself, provided him with a life-long lesson: the unmatched power of raw ambition. This fundamental drive has led him around the world, and into the minds and studios of the most esteemed artists of all time.

Mitch was trained by the Infamous Rossella Cuzenza, co- founder of the prestigious Sebastion International in Los Angeles. Within his first two years of business he established a client base, which was expanding rapidly, both in number and esteem. When three of his clients were cast in the same movie – and each requested his services – Mitch had his first foray into hairstyling for film. Working on films that spanned indie to blockbuster, Mitch was recognized in 2005 by earning an Academy Award for his designs on the film Lemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate Events.

Through his success in Hollywood, Mitch turned the heads of New York’s fashion elite and relocated there in 1995. Immersed in editorial shoots and advertising campaigns, Mitch styled hair for shoots with some of the most prestigious photographers in the world including Herb Ritts, Albert Watson, Arthur Elgort and Peter Arnell. Also popular with designers, he styled fashion shows for Armani, Cynthia Rowley, Adrienne Vittadini and Patricia Fields among many others.

Mitch’s work has been featured in Elle, Vogue, Vanity Fair, InStyle and Rolling Stone, among countless other publications. He’s worked on campaigns for Redken, Victoria’s Secret, Rayban, Pantene and Levi’s. Since moving back to Los Angeles in 1998, his focus has been primarily on celebrity hairstyling. His elite list of client includes such A-List actors as George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Ed Norton, Al Pacino, Kim Basinger, Kristen Davis, Helena Bonham Carter, Brooke Shields, and Jennifer Lopez, to name a few.

In addition to being a star hairdresser, Mitch is an artist and a philanthropist. A member of the Writers Guild, he has written several screenplays and hopes to someday write and produce a major motion picture. He is an activist and supporter of Green Peace, and was solely responsible for commencing an initiative to stop nuclear testing in the South Pacific. By educating his friends and utilizing his connections, Mitch arranged a donation-based screening with Johnny Depp and Industria Studios NY, and together, they convinced Bono for an early release of the song, “How to dismantle a nuclear bomb” to raise funds for the cause.
