I am Shelby Ruth and I am 22 years old . I recently graduated from Radford University with a GPA of a 4.0 with a major in Design with a concentration in Fashion Merchandising, and a minor in Marketing. I work very hard for what I am passionate about and I will do anything to be the best that I can be in this industry.
Fashion has been a passion of mine for a long time, as it comes natural to me. Growing up, I have always been fascinated with the whole fashion scene. Weekend department store shopping, seeing the mannequins appear in the window and store displays of clothing and accessories was always a jaw dropping experience. Two years of fashion marketing in high school and 4 years of Fashion merchandising in college so far has given me the opportunities to travel to New York City to visit the textiles industry, Parsons, where clothes are designed for Project Runway, Moods Fabrics, Charlotte Fashion Week and other extraordinary sights. Participating in school fashion shows was a dream come true. It allowed me to select outfits made by designers, such as my favorites, Lauren Conrad, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, and J. Crew to create the best look for each runway model, including myself. Also, being selected for Barbizon Modeling 09-10 developed skills necessary for fashion success, and Modeling Mayhem experience. From these experiences, my interests lead towards a career that involves forecasting and communication skills, business savvy, and a flair for fashion.
Education is a priority, but involvement in extras such as clubs, dances, sports, etc. is essential for me to be happy. I have proven to have outstanding work ethic and time management skills in all I do. Many hours are committed to travel soccer and competitive jump rope for the last 12 years. Practices, season play, tournaments, performances, and qualifying for the AAU Jump Rope Jr. Olympics and USA Nationals every summer proves true dedication.

My goals while I am in school is to maintain my 4.0 GPA, model as much as I can to gain even more experience, maintain great relationships in my sorority while being on top of my academics, intramurals, family, friends, and sisterhood. After I graduate I want to become a buyer for a retail store then after I gain experience I want to work my way up to become a high-end couture fashion director, then I want to open my own boutique which will be inspired by everyone who has ever affected me and my favorite stores. I hope to just be the best I can be by meeting new people, getting their opinions, and taking everything into consideration.

So far I have worked with Barbizon, fashion show directors, being a fashion show director for my high school and college for Spring and Fall, martial arts photo shoots, head shots, swimwear, bridal and alot of photoshoots by myself and with others. Also, this past summer of 2014 I interned with Nicole Miller in New York City. This experience opened my eyes to a whole new side of the fashion industry!
