Mariah Jemmings is a professional makeup artist currently residing in Ventura County. Mariah came down to California, where it is sunny year-round, from a small town in Montana, where it snowed 9 months out of the year. Mariah originally wanted to be a famous singer and performed at a lot of shows. However, it didn’t take a genius to see that she spent all her time and effort picking out the right outfits and outrageous makeup more than anything else. After that, she tried to go into acting. She would wake up at 1 in the morning to make it to set call times and would work on night calls that went from 5 at night to 5 in the morning. She was always much more interested in hanging out in the “hair and makeup” room rather than being on the set. It would actually bother her when they would tell her that her hair and makeup was perfect and that she didn’t need to go to hair and makeup because she wanted to see how they were doing the makeup, what products they were using, if they could teach her anything about the applications, etc. Throughout high school, Mariah was known for being the “best dressed” and “the one with the best makeup”. She says that she felt “naked” without having stiletto heels or boots, false lashes, eye shadows, eyeliners, and lip colors. At the age of 19, Mariah finally figured out that makeup artistry was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She wanted to be able to let her creativity strive while making people feel beautiful at the same time. Mariah attended Lu Ross Academy for makeup artistry in 2014, taught by instructor, Holly Hughes, and obtained a certification in professional makeup artistry. She also continues to attend numerous beauty workshops because she never wants to stop learning about it. She is truly passionate about what she does and knows in her heart that this is what she was meant to do.
