About Me

I apply makeup for a living. I use cosmetics to make my models as beautiful (or handsome) as they can be so I prefer beauty, editorial and commercial fashion, and glamour gigs. Currently I’m not interested in recreating the gore, the monstrous, or the violence so often found in fiction and reality, I’ll leave that to others.

Have you got a good fashion story? Do you have an event or personality you'd like to publicize? Send me a personal message or email me through the Magazine and we can work it out.

Quotes I Love:
"What, you put on lipstick for a living?" — a client's friend
“The best thing is to look natural, but it takes makeup to look natural” — Calvin Klein
"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny." — Coco Chanel
"Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see), this is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see), why the hell it means so much to me"
— KT Tunstall
"I don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day." — Linda Evangelista
"I'm up at the crack of down for my full day rate" — me
"Dammit Joan, I'm a makeup artist, not a plastic surgeon." — me

TERMS:
I am not a student of makeup artistry or an enthusiastic amateur, I'm a pro and although I love my work applying makeup is my job and paid work will always take priority.
For commercial assignments I expect to be paid in cash at the end of the working day (keeps everything neat and simple) unless other arrangements are made in advance.
I will travel out of town or out of province for a gig provided all transportation costs and living expenses are covered by the client.

I live here

I will do some TF work if the job sounds like fun and would add strong images to my portfolio. I treat TF shoots the same as commercial shoots and I expect everyone else involved to do the same. Models and photographers benefit from a makeup artist’s work immediately, I shouldn’t have to wait weeks to benefit from my own efforts, therefore I appreciate a quick turnaround for CDs or prints. If processing is going to take longer than originally promised simply explain why. The worst response to my questions is no response, going dark isn’t cool.
I do not work with underage models unless very specific conditions are met. PM or email me if you'd like more information.

Kit Fees: You offer, I accept; you don't offer, c'est la vie. Always appreciated, never demanded. You're better off just paying me.

If you're planning a commercial shoot please ask about my rates.

Would you like to talk? Message me, or email me directly at [email protected].
If you're tired of typing call me at 647.521.3082

There are unprofessional and unscrupulous people in this business and unfortunately I’ve had dealings with a few. If you’d like to know who has made my bad bunny list, and why, send me a PM or email. Discretion is assured. (updated 25 November 2007)
