ozgur can akbas studied film. while still a student he worked with names such as documentary director nedim hazar , advertising scholar and tv personality ali atif bir, theater director ergin orbey , and acclaimed director zeki okten .

after school he headed to new york on pursuit of a carrier in photography. over four years he assisted kutlu full time while doing project work for stewart shining , norman mcgrath , martien mulder , rainer hosch and ed james among others. he worked in commercial and editorial projects with gisele bundchen, alessandra ambrosio, irina shayk, eva mendes, eniko mihalik, kate upton, elisabetta canalis, cat deeley, olga kurylenko, julie henderson, sara carbonero, catarina furtado, ryan harrison, tuba buyukustun, zeta makripoulia, ariel meredith and nazan eckes for clients like pantene, wella, clairol and magazines like vogue , latin vogue , sports illustrated swimsuit issue , velvet , elle uk and deutsch.

ozgur can akbas is currently based in turkey and focuses on his artistic photography while sustaining his commercial work.
