I'm having a devil of a time finding a brand of mineral makeup that isn't orange based. My skin is not orange, and no matter how much I cut any of the more well-known brands with a porcelain white, it still looks off. I love the consistency, coverage, and feel of it, but the color just isn't right. Does anyone know of a brand that has more yellow/neutral undertones?

**This is moreso for personal, everyday usage. For shooting I use Face Atelier's Zero Minus and MUFE Fullcover #2.

I'm assuming you've tried Bare Escentuals, but their Fairly light color shade is very yellow...

The other one I'd suggest to try is Philosophy the supernatural mineral foundation.

I actually work for a mineral line called Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics and I LOVE their products (and I'm not just sayin it cuz I work for them). I use their products on my face everyday and i've even used it at photo shoots and the photographers have all loved it.

Heres the website: http://www.ybskin.com.

Hope you like it wink

I haven't ever seen Philosophy's mineral stuff in makeup stores- can it be obtained at an actual store where I can see the true color? I'm getting really gun-shy of ordering skin makeups online, because the colors never match up.

How does the color of, say, 'shell', compare with Bare Escentual's 'fairly light' (this was definitely too orange and dark for me)? I can deal with dark, but I can't deal with orange. I literally need a yellow/ivory color, not a light peach.

In all honesty I have never used bare esentuals so I really can't compare the two.

Are you looking for powder because I know that Youngbloods lightest natural mineral foundation  (pearl) is very light, and it is yellow based.

Also, if you put the light rice powder on before the loose foundation it gives a more true-to-color match without being heavy at all, hope this helps smile

Jane Iredale.  By far the best of the category with very true to life foundation colors (until you get to African Americans).  Unfortunately it's also one of the most expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I ordered mine from QVC, so id idn't see the colour until i got it in person. but i ordered the beige and it's pretty neutral - not orangey. I think the lightest one is very pink shell-ish as far as I know. But it can be found at sephora....

OH, and my friend used to work for a line of mineral makeup called la bella donna, so maybe you should check that out too. she did my makeup one day and I l iked it.

They had the regular colors, and then they had a separate lightener and darkener powder to mix in to get the color match.

I work for Bare Essentuals and have found that mixing Fairly Light with Light gives me the perfect skin match, not at all orangey.

Are any of these mineral makeups ok for photoshoots? I know at least some of them contain titanium dioxide, which you aren't supposed to use. Just curious...

Bare Minerals is the only makeup I ever wear, for a photo shoot or just everyday. I never have a problem with the way my skin looks on print.

check out TRUE COSMETICS, www.truecosmetics.com

it's like bare essentials, but higher-end with better quality ingredients and lots of antioxidants (aka good for fighting aging and acne!).

i've been wearing true for the past month or two and it looks beautiful in person but not so great in photos.
