Hey my fellow HAIR ARTISTS... Just want to say hello and thought it would be great to introduce ourselves. I see so many threads with MUA's and very rarely do I see us and felt why not start an introductory thread to get to know each other and build friendships... so introduce yourself and let the friendships begin.... :-) I find it hard to meet fellow hair artists and would like to meet secure fun loving peers so we can kee kee about the business we're in with hopes of working together, no wo/man is an island... ok, so I'll start I'm Nedjetti, a licensed hair artist/men's groomer, been in the business for 10 years, entrepreneur for 12 yrs & owner of Hair by Nedjetti LLC, native NYer, but reside in Bloomfield NJ and so love love this industry... I'm also a competition judge and educator. I have a natural hairstyling DVD vol 1 no extensions (2 hrs) tutorial out, it's great for all hair artists to learn how to work with all hair types, if interested for only $24.99 (+s/h) go to www.NaturalHairdvd.com to buy your own copy. You'll see me on Oprah one day!!!! tag you're it.... Nedjetti www.Nedjetti.com www.MySpace.com/hairbynedjetti www.NaturalHairDVD.com www.MySpace.com/naturalhairdvd

Hi Nedjetti! I'm Monica been a hairstylist for 9 years. I'm in Long Beach, Ca. I specialize in women's haircare. Also I offer almost a complete variety of services. Cuts, color, weaves/extentions, braiding and a bunch more. I say almost because eventhough I've been at this professionally for 9 years there is always more to learn. GOOD THREAD!!

I can count on my both hands the hair artists that I'm friends with and that's not a large number. thus why i decided to create this thread to make a change. We can't do it alone, this climb in life and people need to learn to become secure and bond with their peers... look forward to hearing and sharing stories.. Nedjetti

Nedjetti -- I am so glad you started this thread! Your artistry is gorgeous, your philosophy and work with natural hair will very likely set a new standard in the industry, and your drive will definitely make all your dream become a reality. My name is Crews and I am a hair stylist originally from Detroit -- the land where a hair salon, nail spot and church can be found on EVERY block and women and men don't think twice about getting their hair done twice a week. Money flowed pretty easy in the salon there, but I came to NY a few years ago to take my artistry and career to that next level. I'm inspired by Vivienne Mackinder, Ted Gibson, Orlando Pita and Ellin Lavar. I have many questions, and am always ready to share the info and resources I've gathered. Thanks again for this thread Nedjetti!

I agree Diana, speaking of first impressions......not very elegant or humble start. On lighter note: Wonderful thread Nedjetti, I love hairstylists (being my mom is one of you!). Without you there is NO picture. Hello Olivier, my trusted and truly humble and talented friend!

You just alienated two. On a brighter note, you're doing some great work Nedjetti! While not hair first, I often do hair campaigns and do 99% of the hair in my editorials which often includes hair extensions, pieces, wigs etc. I do love it though when I get to work with a hair person.. Hello everyone! and thanks to our talented Nedjetti to start this thread, she is an exemple of professionalism, talent and truly a wonderful person. now on other hand... Danielle i do not know you but let me tell you something. First not a good way to start and you only have one shot at a first impression. Make up artists are not only wonderful and talented but realize that without them or photographers or stylists/designers, art directors etc.. you work is pointless in this industry so you should have the upmost respect for them as individuals and their craft. Being licenced mean absolutly nothing and your small celebrity clientel is far to impress anyone with your attitude. You cannot demand respect, you have to earn it! An humble attitude would be a good way to start and leave your ego at the door, telling people you had to shave a few heads or that without you the world of hair would be a disaster... You might work well under pressure but typing with all the time in the world does not seem to be your strong point. Hello V you wonderful talented artist and amazing friend!

i am dissapointed so many took what i said out of context.. let me say... honestly.. i .. in no way.. was trying to disrespect mua's in anyway.. i've read a few threads before and noticed DRAMA..like highschool drama. and just kind of got tired of it.. the the ones causing it just so happened to be mua's... so i refered to them specifically.. maybe not specific enough.. like i said most seem cool.. most.. and while trying to put me in my place... 'they' only proved my point further... peace... danielle

To be fair, you chose to name call (even if it was only directed to a few) in your initial post before any MUAs even replied. Just pointing it out... (And I hate the drama too by the way. I agree it's mostly uncalled for and just unnecessary).

You walk into a virtual room full of mua's and declared that you're so tired of cocky mua's on his site. How exactly did we take that out of context? Seams preatty clear to me and it's a wonder you're surprised that some of us were offended.

I actually love hair people, I do light hairstyling... commercial stuff. I live in So Cal, so I do "touseled beach waves" ALL THE TIME. There is a misunderstanding about a lot of the MUAs on this site. A lot of us think similarly because we have gone through the same stuff and come to the same conclusions- our markets might differ- but the industry is the industry. I think if anything the make-up artists very invested in one another and that's why we are so passionate about things. I think this thread is great. I think it will be great for the Hair Stylists to have the kind of experience that the make-up artists have on this site.
