Located in New York, Houston & Atlanta, On-Location Models specializes in getting it's models work. The majority of bookings we handle are editorial work and print ads. However, we do handle all types of modeling assignments. We are not a modeling school. Founded in New York City during 1985, we started out representing "women of color" due to the fact that there were not a lot of modeling firms which represented Black models. Currently, we have a diverse crew of models. Our business hours are literally 24/7 since most of our model do have a regular 9-5 day job as well as attend college after work. Stop by our GENERAL page below to get more information.

I was approached by the man who runs this agency, Ray Robinson. We met once and his assement of me was pretty thorough. I am just looking to hear if anyone else has had any experience with him and his agency.
Judging by the other 2 threads in this section about a similar situation...this is not the place you want to ask that question. You'll never get a straight answer.
I have done all the prelim fact checking. Googled, looked up his business on the BBB site, found out he is not licensed in Texas, looked up his World Trade Center address, a lot of stuff. I was just hoping to hear other experiences.
Ray came into my store a while back (summertime)
I had a conversation with him and set him up on a T-Mobile business account with multiple lines. Had his business license, bank records and other docs on hand. He talked about owning a photography studio, recording studio and modeling agency.
He was a fast-talker and very excited. I asked a few questions to fish him out but he never gave any direct answers. Just enough for speculation and so forth. Which tells me nothing. Phone kept ringing with what sounded like "aspiring models" asking him about what he does and other things. I grabbed his business card and sent him on his way.
Something just didn't sit right with me...and he was quite flashy and braggart about himself and his businesses. Yet, he only wanted *free* phones with basic features. Tried to get us to give him higher end phones for free. But wasn't happening.
Two months later we get a ote from T-Mobile about charging us back on the Very phones he activated. He apparently didn't pay the first bill. T-Mobile also ran a check and told us that the company he signed up for didn't belong to the tax ID he gave. So, he may have had forged documents.
I found a *working* contact number on a musecube casting that had his Raybiz geocities link in it.
He said he wouldn't return
us OUR phones because T-Mobile cancelled his service and he needed them a *evidence* in a civisuit he filed against them. So, we have a claim against him currently.
What I don't get....which tells me his business ethics and honesty.
1. If you're such a big shot and you claim to book all these black models and make so much money on your photography and now recording studio. Then why are you spending two hours trying down-sell us on getting free phones. Especially when you like dealing with high-end items, drive expensive cars, etc...
2. All you had to do with T-Mobile is fax in your tax docs and business license. (phony or not) And pay your first mon h's bill (a charge of $35 for each of the 5 lines of service you activated) then your service would've been turned back on.
It just seemed a scam to me...and I can't assume his business practices are much better.
But we do have a claim against him to get either our phone
back or total fees for charge backs and OUR original phone costs that we incured.)
If I never found that link on musecube, we'd have gotten nowhere. Because there was no contact info found on him anywhere at that time.
My verdict; he knows a little bit about modeling, but I can't say it is from a third party or he experienced directly. In 13 years, I've never heard of him nor On Locstion. I think he's full of it. Until he shows us something different and pay us the money he owes. AND I actually see his company name legitimized in some way. Licensed legally to do business (not forged) and registered (in Texas and New York) and I can run into several people "in the industry" who can give a reputable history to this guy's track record.

To legally run the Houston branch of his agency, he'd have to have an active TALAGY #, registration, state compliance, etc.; you can check at http://www.license.state.tx.us/LicenseSearch/ ...

This is one of the clearest and intelligent posts yet on someone claiming
to have a agency. You didn't say he was a scam but you have given a
smart and informed post on this person. Here's another clue. The website
itself. Not that everyone needs a fancy website but c'mon I could do better
then that. Without clear knowledge of a person all you can go by is your
experience and whats in front of you. People that really are honest aren't
trying to impress you, usually, they pay their bills and they are open and forthright
with what they are about. If you own and operate a agency you know that
you need to be licensed and bonded (in many states.)
Sounds like this guy was trying to take you for a ride Amber. I know you are too smart to let that happen.
Is this guy claiming to have an internet agency? Because I've yet to see an agency that only runs off of the internet that would even get models work...most of them aren't even licensed or legit anyway from what I have seen.

What kind store publicly reveals information to acquaintances on the internet regarding the financial & legal state of their clients? The post reads like hearsay or slander.

If you weren't able to find record of his license in Houston, try his other alleged locations too. It's entirely possible the guy closed a particular location.

I would suggest you rethinnk only this particular part of your evaluation. I know/have know several legitimate million/billionaires... Every last one of them is a penny-pinching, won't spend a cent if they don't have to, will try to get you to give-up everything they can in any business transaction whores! One guy I knew, Walter Hailey, would litterally drink everything out of styrofoam cups! Even when he was having people over for dinner. He found that it cost less than a penny to use styrofoam cups, and just over a penny to use a glass...
The truly rich are truly strange... No two ways about it.
I'm bumping this three & a half year old thread because Ray Robinson of On Location Models has been approaching girls (including myself) in the South Beach area recently.
I am currently researching this agency and have sent an email to him and cc'd the attorney (7/21/10) that he has lists on his website
* There is no Talent Agency number displayed conspicuously located on his website, business cards, or anywhere. Florida Statute 468.412 (6) requires all talent agencies operating in Florida to have this information. It is a Third Degree Felony to operate without this. He claims to be in operation for over 25 years- even if he is new to South Florida, prior to his attempts to do business here, he must have a talent agency number.
* The attorney he lists on his site, Seth Jaworski, cannot be found on the Florida Bar's website. All attorneys with a license to practice in the State of Florida are issued Bar numbers and can be found on the Florida Bar's website.
* The business address he lists on his website- 1111 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL- there is no suite number shown. I went to the 1111 Lincoln Road address today (7/22/10) and there is no record of Ray Robinson or On Location Models having a suite in this building.
468.412 (6) "No talent agency may publish or cause to be published any false, fraudulent, or misleading information, representation, notice, or advertisement. All advertisements of a talent agency by means of card, circulars, or signs, and in newspapers and other publications, and all letterheads, receipts, and blanks shall be printed and contain the licensed name, department license number, and address of the talent agency and the words "talent agency." No talent agency may give any false information or make any false promises or representations concerning an engagement or employment to any applicant who applies for an engagement or employment."
I am waiting on word back and will update this thread.
Aspiring models, please do your research before signing with any agency.
Modeling is a business- don't forget to do your homework. Put aside emotions and look for cold, hard facts. You have a right and responsibility to ask questions!
I am not an agent. I am a photographer who has a working relationship with several legitimate fashion & commercial modeling agencies in both Miami and New York.
Some of the agencies I've worked with (including but not limited to):
Ford (NYC and Miami)
Next (Miami)
Elite (NYC and Miami)
Click (NYC)
MC2 (NYC and Miami)
New York Model Management
Again, do your research! Do not simply go on what others (including myself) are telling you. You need to make sure and get the facts for yourself. If you're interested in making modeling a career, then you need to make business decisions and know that what you do today will have impact on your tomorrow.
Yea ray robinson is definitely a fake. Come to find out, he's actually on the run I looked him up in the state of corrections he was previously in prison for money fraud as well in the past. Most defintely do your homework ladies esp when you're dealing with fast talkers.
Ladies I was just contacted by Ray Robinson this past month. He went on and on about his modeling agency that supposedly located in Texas and a.nother office in NY. He seemed suspect to me. Kept going on and on about the illuminati and all sorts of religous jargon. He even tried to convince me that beyonce and jayz had gotten rid of their baby as a part of a blood sacrifice. WEIRD. When he realized I wasn't biting on the modeling scam, he then tried to get me to sell websites for him. No way
On today I was contacted by this individual. His energy just gave all sorts of red flags. After being in the industry for so, instincts about people in this industry become second nature. His company's website is amatuer at best, I could have easily created it myself simply by purchasing a domain. (to view go to OnLocationmodels.com). Secondly I have never heard of an agency that does business 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Ford and IMG doesnt even do that much business. Secondly what agent quizes models on industry terms, over a phone interview? Agents like to see models in person, when they are truly interested. It is so typical how he takes ads and places them on his site and facebook page and takes credit for booking models for these ads. I also find it odd that his website lists over 7 different locations, one of which is in Charlotte, NC( what agency does business in carolina) but he has no listing with BBB or any other business organization that can vouch for his credibility. If there are any models who are to oblivious to realize a scam when you see one, this is diffinately it. Run the other way. I feel that Mr. Ray Robinson is doing nothing more that buying business licenses, EIN's and multiple phone lines to lure uneducated, desperate, or aspiring models whom know no better. You guys better wake and learn the business quick. Always follow your first instinct. I sniffed this one ut from the first converstion. Dude get a life!!!!!!

That's why a zombie thread like this deserves to be bumped.

Yes he has been hounding me as well. I was very skeptical but also very hungry, so I went on his "test shoot". He said my pictures "were not 60% useable. I had about 20% of usable pics, so we would have to shoot again and this time for pay". He had me buy him lunch, because I told him I was low on cash, even though I could get the $100. After my second shoot, he still wasn't satisfied... which confuses me, because I am an exceptional model (not to toot my own horn), not perfect, but better than he claims.
What struck me was his wardrobe. A Jewish patient of mine, once told me, if you want to see if a "business man" is legit, look at his shoes and briefcase. All the ladies who have actually met Ray know the condition of those two items on him. I could not understand how such a successful man wore such cheap shoes, and needs his lunch bought.
Aside from trying to get me to sell websites for him too, he showed me this picture on his phone of his supposably living room FILLED with money (about 30 stacks to be exact) After he told me about how he did it, I said to my self "I guess" while still thinking, "Only rappers do that kind of thing". Lo and behold, I saw the picture circulating on FACEBOOK. So it was probably A Lie. which is why i started to see if he is legit or not and it brought me here. Everything that everyone is saying is true, which crushes me, because I wanted to believe him.
Also I asked him to show me sample comp cards of models he represents, he showed them to me on his computer, and there was no water mark of his company name on ANY of them. I am also still waiting to see one of his "models" paid members sites.

Yeah, this says scam to me. I mean honestly, I've setup T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint contracts, and know of the business tax id of which you speak. And when they don't match up, different names and such, that screams fraud to me. Along with wanting to get free stuff and claim to be a high roller and such. I've dealt with large accounts before, and when they come in, they know what phones they want, know how much they cost, and don't haggle over the price, because they've done their due diligence and know they are getting a good price on the products they are choosing. But I digress onto a non MM type subject. But yeah, don't deal with this guy. Go for a legit agency, one with a name. And most of the time, you have to contact the agency, not the other way around.
