I hope making this information easily accessible and clear will make for a better Model Mayhem experience for all. So here goes. (I made it an image so there would be no confusion of which characters not to use).

Model Mayhem uses BBCode for text formatting, images, and hyperlinks. Below is the syntax.

http://www.briandiazphotography.com/bbcode.gif

A URL typed in will be parsed as a link, e.g. www.modelmayhem.com.

These tags can be combined, e.g. to make an image also a link. To see the syntax for that, hit the quote button to this post, and check out where the [tags] go.

What can be done where on MM?

Note: If you want to post a photo, it has to be on the Internet somewhere, whether that's here on MM, on you own website, or on another host. It cannot be done from your hard drive.

Another note: You MUST use lowercase letters in the tags on your profile.

We have made compilation threads to find them all for basic areas of the US and starting to do so for other areas.
If you have a studio to rent, post an individual thread in the Market area of the forums.

Studio threads belong in the market section of MM.

Please follow the rules to do that.
Market section Rule
Market area
Market Area

The threads listed below are a way to list many studios together.
But you can also post here so that MM can have an easy to find resource of
Rental studios available.
If you know of good rental studios.
Post to these threads also.

Mid west/east studio resource thread.

East coast studio resource thread.

West coast studio resource thread.

I will get to making resource threads for England and Canada.
But I am not all that familiar with those areas so if someone could help me that would be great.

England - london Studio Resource thread read first

Studio resource threads for Canada? opinion needed

In this case I think one of the moderators should start the thread off.

Thankyou.
moderator.
Also,
The casting section as it is now is not to be used to promote a studio you are trying to rent.
Thanks.

Hi,

Many Mac users ask how to post full-size images from their portfolio in the forums and to the Picture of the Day - Original Edition competition. Instructions on how to do this using a PC are found beneath the competition rules on the first page of the competition thread, located by clicking here.

To post an entry to the Picture of the Day using a PC and Microsoft Internet Explorer:

1. Select a hosted image, such as the full-resolution image in your Model Mayhem portfolio, and open it.
2. Right click on the image and scroll to Properties on the menu that appears.
3. Highlight (selecting with Ctrl-a) and copy (with Ctrl-c) the URL Address (web address).
4. Paste the image's web address to the POtD thread with the code [img]Image Address[/img]

The problem for Mac users is that there is no right-click button on their mouse. However there is a simple solution.

Using Firefox as your browser:

1. Locate the full-resolution image in your portfolio that you wish to enter.
2. Hold down the "apple" key and click on the image. A menu will appear.
3. On the menu select "Copy Image Location" (replacing Steps 2 and 3 for the PC).
4. Paste the image's web address to the POtD thread with the code [img]Image Address[/img]

Alternately, using Safari as your browser:

1. Locate the full-resolution image in your portfolio that you wish to enter.
2. Hold down the "apple" key and click on the image. A menu will appear.
3. On the menu select "Copy Image Address" (replacing Steps 2 and 3 for the PC).
4. Paste the image's web address to the POtD thread with the code [img]Image Address[/img]

Regardless of which browser you are using on a Mac, the paste command is apple-v. I hope that Mac users find this information helpful.

Take care,
T R Willmitch

You might want to mention at the top that the tags are enclosed in square brackets. Anyone used to html programming might not look that close and see they are square not parenthesis. You mention it further down but might be useful where you list the tags. I know you mention its BBCode but some may not know that that means square brackets.

Just a thought...Tryin to help...I am a newbie but I really love this site want to help make it easier than it already is if I can

That's HTML and not BBCode, with the available commands outlined at the start of this thread. That's why the coding didn't display your image.

Using the proper BBCode img-command with your web address and jpeg gives:

If I'm not mistaken then there is a BBCode quirk that has never been fixed. On profile pages the coding is case sensitive, while in the forums it's not. So try using lower case when coding your page and see if that doesn't fix the problem.

Take care,
Tom

PS, Another hint: Don't use a program like Microsoft Word to compose your code. Do and you'll chase your tail forever trying to shake out problems that you don't see embedded in the coding.

Is it possible to have the image link open in a new window? I know how to do this in html... add: target="_blank" and it will open the link in a new window, it there any code for that with the BBCode system?

Also, I'm pulling images to load on my profile page from flickr, I know that is allowed. Is it possible to have them resized through the BBCode? Because if I place 2 vertical images next to each other, and the total pixels is over 500 pixels wide, the 2nd vertical image goes to the next line (making the profile page that many vertical pixels longer)... if I could have the height & width tags resize the image within BBCode, then I could keep them to 249 wide for each image and have them displayed slightly larger (than the 160 pixels they are now). Flickr gives you the option of choosing the size, but only several sizes, and in the case of MM profile pages it seems that you can't go over the 500 pixels wide with 2 images (you can with 1 image however).

Also, is it possible to add spaces to text, to space out the text?
In html you can add which adds an extra space. I've got a few images on my profile, and I want to put the models name under the image

Like this:
Luccia 594951 Luccia 594951 Jin Cha 709908
But I would like to add more spaces between the number of the previous model and the name of the next model.

Edit:
Luccia 594951 Luccia 594951 Jin Cha 709908
I just added extra spaces and it worked... no additional code needed. I just wonder if it's displayed differently in different browsers... probably.
