If tastefully done, male nudes can represent power.  It doesn't always have to be homophobic.

do you find it difficult to create images that both males and females would agree are visually pleasing??

I wanna know everyone's opinion on nude males;

ladies: who would rather look at a playboy rather than a playgirl??

male photographers: do you have to be homo/bi-sexual to appreciate a male's body?

female photographers: would you be interested in shooting nude males and why?

male models who shoot nude: is it empowering to shoot nude, or do you feel vulnerable?

would love some honest thoughts here THANKS~

I feel that if the images aren't overly sexual, then they can be pleasing to both male and females.  Women don't like to see men look like sex kittens and I feel that a man can appreciate another male nude if its just a strong, sculpted form.  They might not admit it, lol, but men can appreciate a stong body.  Its the representation of strength, not something sexual.

I shoot a lot of male nudes.  I think men are beautiful, and a perplexing number of people don't seem to agree with me, so I take pictures that show my perspective.  They are surprisingly well received by both women and men.

Nikki why do you think it is that most women enjoy seeing other women naked more than men? Is is a lesbian tendancy that is subconscious, or can we just appreciate something we relate to?

So do men look at other men and feel inferior or jealous the same way that women do?

I love naked men! I like when the photos of them nude are done well and interesting. I hate the cliche photos...like a man on a bed with a sheet covering his wang just enough...boo...or the ever popular lay on the back one hand behind the head and the wang laying to the right...or left...one leg curled up..blek! I have seen some amazing nude men on here with great photos! I hope to conquer it someday! I will be trying very soon! I hope it works!

Well, I guess some men are the same by saying that they like nude women but only if they can see pink.

On a sexual level, if its in shrink mode it doesn't do it for me unless the figure is cropped right before the crotch because it makes you wonder what lies below. Artistically however I find the human body beautiful in form and definition.  In that way I don't view it sexually though more like an artistic expression.

hmmm, I hate to speak for all men.  I see it as more admiration or goal setting.  Sort of like, "I would like to be cut like that."  I don't think its jealosy.

I would shoot you.  You have an edgy look that is different from what I've shot before.

a great body is a great body
male/female doesn't matter
if i had a sculpted physique
any one with a camera, paint brush, or stone to chisel
who would could work with me
but alas, not the case
nude is frame of mind
not a state of undress

not necessarily. yes, a man is less likely to be 'taken advantage of' doing nude photography, but will be more creatively criticized due to his imperfect physique, which very few true female models are lacking.

personally, ive very rarely even shot with my shirt off. i just recently adjusted and am now quite comfortable within my own skin. everyone is different.

Wow JoHanna you seem to have a lot of interest in this.  I can’t say that I have a lot of experience shooting male nudes, but I do have some.  I have to concur with most of the opinions presented here already.
It is a shame that more individuals do not find the male form attractive.  I think that mindset is somewhat less of a factor on a modeling site such as this, but it can easily be seen in the general public.  I have to agree that the female body is much more beautiful, but that opinion is somewhat biased.
I found your one question to present an interesting perspective on how men view other males.  From my own personal view, there is no jealousy when viewing other men.  I do find the male form to be quite erotic, but I would in no way classify myself as gay.  Of course I find nudity in most any form to be erotic.  I myself present a mix of both voyeur and exhibitionist traits which creates my sexuality and creativity.  How this translates into my work very much interests me and I am still in the process of developing and molding my style.

I think so -  The introduction of a woman adds a focal point.  Rather than some guy posing, there are two people with sensual expressions  and mingling of bodies.

You are right Roy, I am very interested in this subject because it is something I have never known very much about. It isn't hard to come up with a general opinion on women, but nude men stills seems like a somewhat taboo subject, and I personally find the female form more pleasing to see, so I wanted to compare my thoughts to others. I really appreciate your honest and detailed answer

I enjoy doing nudes and have worked with a number of photographers, both male and female, on fine art nudes. I have also been fired from a (contract) day job over it and had a number of men try to act on a mistaken assumption regarding my gender preference.

Let's face it: nude men will never be as popular as nude women. Look at a men's magazine, and it's full of revealing pictures of women. Look at a women's/fashion magazine, and it's full of revealing pictures of women. Go to the beach in North America, and the only men not wearing baggy suits down to their knees are triathletes out training.

Closing thought: if you do want to see more male figure / fine art images, grab a camera and shoot some. Cheers.

Oh my gosh yes! It is very challenging! It is hard to photograph a clothed one for me! Women come easy for me. But I am sure going to give it the old college try!

I've got a photo on my profile that many are finding creative... I invite you to check for yourself. I think it does still come down to art and creativity... not so much about nudity but about the beauty of both the male and female body in general.

well i shoot both men and female models as nudes, moreso men because it is beautiful.....women are seen as artful with their bodies, whereas men are shunned....i wanted to show, they can be artful as well...

and i did this from my model profile for a reason...im very comfortable with my own body and ill pose nude if its tasteful....it is liberating....

I feel vulnerable.

I feel empowered.

I feel beautiful.

I feel sexy.

And I feel like I'm literally a PART of a work of art.

I have female friends who answered the "looking at naked men" the question with both the "hell yeah" and "blegh no" about equally.

I have mostly done nudes, because it's fun, and I feel it's the best niche for my look. I'm to short for most runway or print work, and because modeling has always been just a bit of a hobby, it's a great way to make a little extra cash once in a while. I love to work out, and keep in shape, but I'm not always going to be able to look like this. I think some of finer images will be nice keep-sakes as life goes on.
It's definatly NOT for a lot of people: Models, Shooters, or "consumers" because the female form is so much more in demand....

Umm, I have to respectfully dissagree. Just because someone doesn't post 20 male nudes, doesn't mean they have to be bi to appreciate the male form. I've posed for Male shooters, both gay and straight and some of by best images were done by straight men who were simply superior photographers....
