I'm not the quiet spineless democrat that we've been stereotyped as. Never have been. Sometimes these people up here are surprised that one guy will take them on.
I duuno why. I just can't let that kind of shit pass.
It's probably entitlement to some degree, but willful stupidity mostly. These guys are still convinced that 95% of the country is just like them. Oh, and this was a mix of ages 21 - 60.
Luckily, it didn't come to blows, although... when it has, they usually punch my middle-eastern looking friend, who actually agrees with them, and is also racist... (against people who are darker then him) (wtf?) but by virtue of his darker complexion, he apparently makes for the perfect punching bag. (is that nuts, or what?)
I feel like I need to find a better bar... damn, like that's gonna be possible.
LOL Most of the bars up here are 100% white, playing country music... and not the George Jones type, but more the Honky Tonk Badonkadonk or Brown Chicken Brown Cow kinda country.
Yup, it's openly trashy.
so... a few week ago I put a few quarters in and played Shining Star and um...

You are not kidding. I went to Hamilton, MT for work a month ago. My first time in Montana. There was a sushi place, everyone working there was white. Everyone.
I was there a week and saw one Asian man other than that all white people. I felt uncomfortable and I'm white. It was weird that all signs were in English only. In the DC area all sighs are English and Spanish. I missed them and I don't even speak Spanish. Montana just felt like a foreign country to me.
Not very many republicans though. I don't talk about politics at work but I worked with maybe two or three people over the past 20 years that came out and were openly republican.

One day I'm driving to work and see this:
That is the essence of white-trashiness.
I call that being in the country vs 'white-trashiness.' You are the one that's messed up here (your words), not Montana.

But, "white trash" doesn't seem to bother white trash. I hear the term so often referring to themselves. (around twice a week).
I see a big difference between the N word and "white trash".
"White trash" is generally used to describe people by their actions. You can be poor and white and not be white trash. You can be a redneck and not be white trash. You can be a lazy white person and you aren't white trash.
White trash is usually a term used by other white people to describe low class white people who seem to have zero self respect and zero respect for others.

I remember having caucasian friends who would describe other co-workers as "oh, she's just white trash" I don't understand why people feel the need to put down other people who may not be as enlightened. Yes, there will always be people who have no desire to accomplish goals and make a better life for their families but they are still people... not trash.

White people called my co-worker white trash because she was very poor, dirty hair and some days smelly...but I will say she was one of the nicest people I had ever met and she meant no harm to anyone.

we often create our own problems. Perhaps if you just discussed the issue of Fox's "neutrality" instead of bringing into question his sanity. If he's a good buddy, it can be good natured ribbing. But a stranger? Sounds like you're trying to pick a fight.
That offer has NOTHING to do with white trash. How dare you assume that
un ownership means white trash. Shame on you.
uh... having a gun is okay...
giving a free one away with a dish is a whitetrash thing.
I mean... think of all the great whitetrash ways we could give away guns:
Buy a flu shot, get a new Lugar!
Purchase a 12pack, and get yerse'f a new 9mm!
Buy some Tampax, and you'll get a free Smith & Wesson 642 (now in Pink!!!!)
Pizza and .44 !!!
Buy a 2 Breast Meal at Chester Chicken and git yerse'f a Saw'd Off!
Buy Baskin Robbins Spumoni and get a AK!
Buy a Frock, get a Glock! Now at Coral West Ranchwear!

White trash can afford to buy a Dish?
Yeah talk about reach with your examples. As usual.

LOL@ discussing the issue of Fox's "neutrality" in a redneck bar.
I'm not convinced they "discuss" anything. They're pretty adept at repeating stuff though.

Owning guns by itself is not necessarily a sign of white-trashness but the demographic that this particular ad is directed to poor, rural, under-educated white men who most likely drive pick-up trucks. You won't see a special like that in an urban Best Buy.

I spent last weekend in Phoenix and I was surprised by how many pick up trucks I saw.

Hamilton, MT is what most would consider a rural community. According to wikipedia, the population of Hamilton is 96.22% white. Also:
The median income for a household in the city was $22,013, and the median income for a family was $30,665. Males had a median income of $25,795 versus $22,138 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,689. About 14.3% of families and 17.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 28.4% of those under age 18 and 15.3% of those age 65 or over.
So rural, yes. Poor, to some degree. White, mostly. But white trash? Only if you are a racist.

It's not racism. Being a white trash or a redneck is a choice. I'm being critical of their lifestyle and in particular, their racism, homophobia, and xenophobia.

To me, when you choose to add something that indicates race, it becomes a racist comment.
Want to criticize their lifestyle? Cool have fun but why do you need to bring their race into it?
Want to call them racists or homophobes? You would get your point across better if you did so without being a racist yourself.

I'm getting more and more of an impression that you thrive on conflict. If your odds were flipped from 20-1 to 1-20, you'd happily rip into that one person because they are at odds with your worldview. You're more interested in condescension than discussion.
maybe those folks deserved it. I don't know. I do have a couple friends from Montana. Not sure of their politics since we don't really discuss it (these are on-line gaming friends) but they sure seem nice and polite. Considering they are friends with some very left leaning other on-line friends, they might be left leaning too. They do welcome occasional ribbing about them being in Montana though. What with all the cows and apparent lack of good looking women.

I've only heard white people refer to other white people as poor white , It was not a term used in my family for sure. Then again, I've never even heard my dad curse more or less the rest.

Because all rednecks are racist, homophobic and xenophobic.

What do you think of 19 people in a bar using the N-word to describe The President of the United States?
"That n****r is the foodstamp president"
"That n****r bailed out GM"
"That n****r let the our guys get killed in Benghazi"
"That n****r wants to give other n****gers "stuff""
"That n****r want to take from the rich and give it to the poor"
"That n****r is a communist!" (and a socialist)
"Sockmonkey n****r!"
They actually took all the FOX talking points and inserted the N word into the rhetoric. I'm not kidding. And they thought that was funny as hell, I guess.
I understand just kidding around with people.... but this was complete bullshit. They've been doing it off and on since the debates.
The problem with conservatives is that there are several varieties within the party, and the only common thread is lower taxes and smaller government, but there are some real low-lifes that find a home in the party because of it's mixed agenda and utter failure to call out those that cross the line (rape comments, racists, magic negros, 47%, etc) You're never going to get anywhere if you don't weed your weeds.
