How do I tell a photographer who paid me that I hate what he has done to me and I want it taken down.

I am mortified has anyone had this happen and is it really as bad as I think or am I crazy. He took amazing pics but once he has gotten into photoshop I want to cry.

Well there is that one thing... he paid you. Maybe ask him not to credit you?

Just ask him to remove the credit from your name as you do not feel it best represents your work.  Either he takes the hint or he won't.

Edit: Dangit... Lora beat me to it.

You could ask him to take it down, but if it were me who paid you, I'd pretty much tell you that you are shit out of luck.

Paid or unpaid, what did the release you signed say? If it granted him the rights that a release usually grants, you're out of luck.

So... what did the release say?

I have to wonder how many people would have ended up seeing it, had you not linked it here, vs. how many will now.

It seems like a perfectly average picture to me, although this thread seems like it would be pretty sketchy in light of the rules about unsolicited critique. Maybe next time don't work with someone if you have reason to believe the photos will be embarrassing?

I agree that the pose is awkward and it isnt your best work but by him having it up in his port do you really think that your career would be that hurt by it?

Assuming the image is within the parameters of the model release you signed (if you did) then I would say that you don't say anything. You have what you were paid for and he has what he paid you for. Move on.

if your going to want him to take it down..giving money back isnt going to work..

you would have to pay him like triple for him to acually take notice.

and if you do hate it that much that you would pay a lot more than he paid you...
make sure HE signs something on the next agreement.

also..
this thread didnt help the matter if he sees youve written 'i hate what hes done' to me.

Not my problem. It was just one possible solution.

send him this link?
lol
seriously though, as a model you sign a release to basically give the client permission to do whatever they'd damn well please. so just don't look at the picture.
it comes with the territory.

Seriously. I'm not sure what was more foolish on the OP's part - choosing to work with someone she didn't think would flatter her when she obviously cares a great deal about her image, or choosing to then post a public thread complaining about it, complete with a link to the offending photo.

There's your answer!

There are several questions here: what can you do, what should you do,  what will you do...  Can't start answering any of those without knowing what is in the release.

I can tell you, however, that if I paid a model who then asked me to take down the pictures, I would need a fair amount of convincing and/or money. At the very least, I would expect the model to return my money and any other costs associated with the shoot.

Look at it this way, if you did the shoot and the photographer didn't like the outcome, would you be okay if he didn't pay you? Probably not (nor should you be).

the link you posted....is that the photo you are talking about? Because if it is.....it does not look over Photoshopped to me....it looks like a pretty natural straight out of camera shot

Ummm... not sure how to put this, and it is not a critique of the model, the photographer, or the photograph...

If Photoshop was not used, then the photographer captured a rare moment when the laws of gravity were not being enforced.

Very nicely if at all.  You were paid to shoot and I presume you signed a release.  A photographer has right to do bad work.  Besides, what is to say that the photographic statement he wants to make is going to be flattering to you?  That is why he paid you, to portray his vision, not yours!

Has this turned into a critque?  Honestly?  After looking at the OP's PORT...this is not such a bad shot...sure a "lifted boob"...but I think she looks pretty damn good in it.... of course, comparing it with what she already has.    I'm actually sorry you feel the way you do.   But I'm also feeling sorry for him....you may have considered contacting him when he originally did the photo shop and asking him to "tone it down" or something (though, i don't know what you don't like about it...you never stated it).   Photog may be pissed now tho.... I wouldn't blame him.   Did you even TRY to talk to him about fixing your percieved problem before he posted?

Just unanswered questions.... I still think you might have sent the pic to the critique board first before claiming butchery.

Just my 2c

Except, in this case, it's not the OP's picture to have critiqued. I'm guessing that this thread will be locked soon because it's turned into a critique thread. Not just a critique, but a critique that wasn't solicited by the photographer.

Uh, sorry, but you DO NOT look 115 lbs in that photo....sorry.   But again, did you ASK before you complained?   You look..well, 150 in that photo to me.... MY WIFE is 160.... but 5'11 and muscular....I think your "perceptions" (reality is in the eyes of the beholder, right).... are not quite butchery....

He claims he used liquify to shrink the breast because they were to big.
