Just curious as to what "extra's" you all carry with you?  We all have the standard makeup, tissues, etc. but I mean those things that people don't normally think to put in a makeup kit.

For example, I always have a Tide-to-Go Stick and Advil in my kit.. both super handy and it seems like someones always spilling or has a headache.

Anyone else have clever tools or little lifesavers in their kits?

ibuprofen
bobby pins
pens and sharpies
razors
hydrocortisone cream
nail polish and remover
super glue
toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and mouthwash
scotch tape
candy!

Actually, most of that stuff I keep in my massive black hole of a purse. I count it as part of my kit though.

I have a pair of rhinestone encrusted sissors ( these have yet to be ripped off) I also have nail polish remover. I like the wipes they use up less space and never leak
I have two tiny little lights ( they are made for reading a book in bed)  that can clamp onto anything they are really small about the size of those small square batteries these have been so handy more than once.
a small sewing kit, basically some thread wrapped around a piece of card and a couple of needles.
wrapped straws ( I like to take a few extra when i go out to eat, cant beat free)

music. (CD's)

never underestimate the power of music. It helps the model get into character.
It can make the atmosphere more enjoyable.

everything listed above plus deodorant, tampons, maxi pads (for the soles of shoes that have to be returned), scotch tape, a trasg bag or two, a nail files and cleap nail polish. I also keep rope in my car... and yes I've had to use it before.

I'm one of those overly prepared people

My make up artists have a model smacker.  Its a big stick with all the agencies names burnt into it.  It works well with models that dont pose well.  It gives them a small taste of what the agency(s) are like.  You get smacked around ahead of time so you get the jist of the industry.

I must admit... I get laughed at when I come to a shoot because I have a suitcase full of stuff.... but I almost always have what ever they ask for!!!  I have the majority of what was mentioned, as well as huge paperclips (for clothes), bandaids, benedryl, sequins, rhinestones, extension cord, scissors, extra nails, arnica gel, ( great if on location, and get bumped or fall... it prevents bruising) jewelry and who knows what all else...

but I must admit that I have never thought of the large bottle of brandy, small bottle of vodka ( though might have to throw one or two of those in!!) .... rope..... bras and panties, tube top.... all you guys are missing is flashlights, candles, matches, rubber cement ( which I have been asked if  I keep in my kit and did for a while) and pots and pans!!!

Thanks... made me think of some stuff I might have to add!!!

What is up with the rubber cement?  I got that a few times too...are they sniffing it?  IF my eyelash glue won't do, or my permabond glue...I don't wanna know.

And it's not BRANDY, it's BOURBON. wink

but whatever works is fine.

Always deodorant. Always room spray. and I never unpack my zip lock baggie full of sprinkles. The ice cream kind. from the sugar to the just plan color ones. The sugar makes a great add on to lips and or shadow..

HA!!! This is amazing.  We should go on a wilderness survival treck with our kits.. I'm sure we'd do just fine.  And if not we could just drink the bourbon and vodka.. and the brandy :p

Can a photographer do this?

*Sunscreen
*wet wipes
*Deoderant
*Sewing kit
*Scissors
*Double sided tape
*A bolt of fabric
*A fur stole
*gloves in white and black
*bobby pins and slides
*black and white panties
*glitter
*compact mirror and fold-away brush
*HAIRSPRAY! So important for all sorts of things.
*tissues
*extra batteries, film and charger
*mobile ( make sure it is CHARGED!)
*candy and 1L bottle of water

I've also got a neat little trick of tying a satchel that I made around the top of my thigh that houses one of my lenses for a quick change-over, I always take two cameras (one with additional lens I want to use and flash unit already attached) and a disposable in my bag just in case and I usually wear long boots so that I can house rolls of film and filters in the top of my boots. It saves digging around a camera bag or carrying the bloody thing for hours! I am commando photographer! wink

I forgot...

Mosquito repellent and sunscreen (both are the spray kind) ! I live in Miami, so these are vital, especially right now.

Oh how I wish I had a taser on many a shoot!

We can also use it on our wilderness trip. We can fight off bears or in my case a gator!

OMG Why have I never thought of this?? Thanks!!

I always have some alchol gel hand cleanser,
plasters (band aids?)
needle and thread,
Antiperspirent/Deoderant
and probably the most random, black and white BRA's in a few sizes, just cheep ones, but my have they been handy!!

Also most of the things mentioned before, like pins and nail tips, single lashes, plain paracetamol, as I'm allergic to Ibuprophen and thats all the first aid kit ever has in it (and it actually against our over cautious regulations in the UK to have any pain killers in a first aid kit!!)

This is a really good thread smile
