Shout wipes, safety pins, sewing kit, double stick tape, clothing clips, stick on scuffy things for slick shoes, deodorant, baby powder (for sweaty brides & removing sand), scotch tape, scissors, straws, tampons/pads, ziplock baggies in a few sizes, neosporin, band-aids, instant cold pack, ibuprofen & tylenol, tums, styptic stick, liquid band-aid stuff, mints & gum, sharpie, those disposable toothbrush thingies with the toothpaste in them, glue dots, razors for face & body, hard candy for diabetics...I think everything else is pretty normal makeup & hair stuff.

....pulls out the extras kit... I need a whole additional kit besides my MU kit when I'm doing makeup on set for models. (I should really make a friggen MU port on here)

***Medical Tape (white cloth tape) great for making pasties, for injuries, and the like
*mouthwash
***sunscreen
***face wash (in case the model comes with yesterday's makeup O.o)
***oil blotting pads
***non latex lash glue (I'm allergic to latex, and know many other models who are as well)
*pencil sharpener
*eye bag cream
*scissors
*makeup remover
*shampoo
*conditioner
*few colors of spiking gel
*toothpicks
*tweezers
*qtips
*lint roller
*lotion
*baby wipes
*combs
*normal hair gel
*hair pins
*feminine products

That's about it...but I'm so happy I finally got it organized in it's own case.

Mouthwash, floss, toothpaste, temp crown/filling cerment ( the kind you buy in drug stores)
I have lost count how many time models have lost fillings etc so also being a dental nurse I thought I'd add it to my extras kit.

Plasters
Non latex gloves
Blanket
Flask of hot water for tea if on location
Safety pins
Tampons/panty liners
Bottled water
Spare mobile phone
Sewing kit
Chocolate bars or light snacks
Cans of coke (I need caffeine)
First aid kit
Notebook
Hairstyling equipment
Pain killers

And a partridge in a pear tree

Either. Mine are there should anyone on set get caught out. Razors are also really handy to have. So many models and talent turn up without shaving under their arms hmm

Ooooo, forgot a really important one cause I've already taken them out of my kit for summer. Those instant heat things for outside shoots in winter.

Waoh, and there I was thinking that the toothbrush, small carrier bag and brush/comb combo was enough. I usually just feel that it isn't part of my job but from this thread I have learned proactivity like nowhere else. Thanks everyone

I draw the line at pain killers and hand warmers and such to be honest. The way I see it is anything that protects my work (straws, tissue, blotting paper etc) OR affects the skin (hair removal etc) is my business. Anything else is someone elses business. I carry too much as it is tongue

Nail Polish Remover, Straws, Eye Drops, Protein Bar(s), and Pasties. I used to carry a limited edition Kershaw but I lost it, then my scissors got up and walked away. The makeup fey must not want me around sharp things. This is a great thread! I will definitely be adding Deodorant and Disposable Razors to the pile! I like to keep shop towels around (the blue paper towels), they're so much more absorbent plus lint free. I never ever remember my mirror unless I've got my body paint kit.

Question for the MUAs!

Is there anything you wish a model brought for themselves? Or maybe did something ahead of time that we wouldn't normally think of? (This question was brought on by so many crazy extras in your kits!)

I mean I know to shave my underarms and wax my eyebrows ahead of time (though I must say, if it is a last minute shoot and I am coming from work or something, there is very little I can do if I have some extra hair...) and I never show up with makeup (unless of course it's last minute), but is there some way we could help make your job easier? So maybe you wouldn't have to carry rope, a taser and Xanax? Haha...

I'm just trying to get an idea here because I always like to be prepared and never want a MUA to think I didn't follow directions or was a pain to work on.

I like it when models bring their own mascara so I can apply it with the original wand rather than a disposable. Sometimes I will let the model apply it herself so she can get really close to the root smile

I always appreciate it if a model lets me know in advance if she has very sensitive skin or some other skin problem (extreme dryness or a breakout, for example). I usually ask about allergies beforehand now but things like this don't usually get mentioned. Most things can be worked around but it's nice to have a heads up.

It saves time if skin is exfoliated (and lips if neccessary), lips are treated with balm and nails are well-kept with no nail varnish on smile

I bring a few extra bits and bobs but 2 things I bring that haven't been mentioned are aprons ( I am soooo clumsy , I Dont want to mess up  designer stuff or the talents clothes) so I pack that . I also pack disposable table covers . These come in handy big time for on location shoots especially . But I tend to use them in studio as well , just to feel re assured tbh. Plus it makes my set up look nicer and makes cleaning up easier smile

If your bringing wardrobe , make sure clothes are clean and ironed .

The only thing I can't stress enough is to make sure you care for skin properly and according to your skin type. Especially dry skin , Certain areas can get flakey and product just accumulates and builds up in that area and looks unsightly . Same with lips...

I make my own lip scrub , brown sugar and olive oil/ honey usually does the trick smile

The main thing is just to bring your beautiful self with clean hair , clean  nails , clean everything and a positive attitude .

I have an apron as well - the kind that they wrap around you at hairdresser's. Toothpicks (when lashes peel off a bit), LIGHTER, eye drops, sewing kit, nail polish remover pads, painkillers, couple of clothes pins, disinfection (for my tools) and brush cleanser...

Probably should add a lot of other things, but I feel like I haul a lot of stuff already. The hair stuff is damn too heavy. LOL

I was thinking of checking home depot?  I do bring painter's tape, eye drops, safey pins, bobby pins, hair bands, disposable face razors. Got so many new ideas here.
