I used to use three or more monoblocks with various modifiers to shoot the majority of the time, but have recently developed a penchant to shoot with a single head only, with a 2metre octo, and grid. Im liking the moodier look Im getting from it, and it kinda pushes you to develop better techniques, as opposed to stagnating and using a "formula" to do everything.

My whole port is one light or no light.

My point: Do you really need a "kit" or lots of lights?

WOW! You may only need 1 light, but you got some killer skills!!! Awesome images!
Now, the rest of us not so skilled photogs need 2+ lights smile

Now im just waiting for someone to post some killer images they shot using no lights...

Everylighting shot on my port is with 1 Profoto Compact 600r. Indoor shots with a shoot thru umbrella, outdoor shots with just a 6" profoto zoom reflector on light.

All my work on my page is natural light and if I use a light it's never more then one. So look at my pics and if you can tell I used a light in the pic then thats the shot you want to see. I'm to lazy to throw together six and seven light set ups.

Almost all my images utilises only one light. I don't own any softboxes so go figure.

Most of my portfolio is one light, with either shoot through umbrellas, reflector or diffuser smile

Most of mine were done with one light or ambient light only.

I had one of those.  One day I looked at it wrong and it broke.

One light, and it was a single 500-watt tungsten "hot light" with a bare 12-inch reflector, at that.  Don't need fancy equipment to get great lighting.  smile

I often use a Photoflex 1000 watt Starlite in a 3 foot Octodome and love the results... usually with a grid.
