Total impulse buy , didn't do any research on them.  I thought it was a good price ?  I hope so.
$900 for 2 with case .

Anyhow are there any other brand modifiers that will fit or adapt to work on these ?  I need softboxes or shootthru umbrellas.

I read the 3 threads on these in the Resource here , nada on what I'm asking .

These do not have antenaes on them  ,  she said they are about 1 year and a half old.
But they are pristine , she never used them it seems.

try going to Calumet or Samys camera in San Fransisco, they could probably point you in the right direction. Here is Calumet's info:

United States

Photo dealer
Rental shop

Phone     1 415 643 9275

or ask Stephen Eastwood he knows a lot about lighting and might be able to help you out as well.
try contacting Adorama, since they sell the flash they might be able to help with the softbox as well

I use photoflex umbrella with my compact 600r's, i think Chimera has speedrings for profoto heads, check there website. And i have been told by a long time profoto user that Photek umbrellas work as well.

photoflex are a cheaper alternative for speedrings.  All profoto reflectors will work on those, you'll need speedrings for softboxes/octoboxes.

I used Photoflex with mine.  I had Chimera but really didn't notice any difference - just easier to set up & take down.

Most brands* of softboxes have speedrings for Profoto, and most brands of umbrellas will work as well. You can obviously use Profoto branded gear also.

(This is mentioned frequently in  that lighting thread you dislike.)

* Plume, Larsen, Chimera, Photoflex, RedWing, Calumet, et-very-cetera

Good point. Most of the less expensive umbrellas, and some of the more expensive have 8mm shafts; Elinchrom and Profoto require a 7mm shaft. (At least, they used to; the latest Profoto heads I've seen recently seemed to have more play when using umbrellas than the older ones did, though I'm not sure it's going to be enough.)

I have two Compact 300 Specials that I use with Chimera softboxes. You made the smart move going with Profoto as you can now rent gear that will be compatible the world over...

Don't want to sound rude, but why buy profoto gear to put cheap ass softboxes that could have fluorescence problems leading to color casts??... hmm IMHO this is a nice starter softbox http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1 … White.html

$900 is a good price on those, esp if it comes with that Tenba air case.
