Bought some Profoto 600 Plus monoblocks today.
Total impulse buy , didn't do any research on them. I thought it was a good price ? I hope so. $900 for 2 with case . Anyhow are there any other brand modifiers that will fit or adapt to work on these ? I need softboxes or shootthru umbrellas. I read the 3 threads on these in the Resource here , nada on what I'm asking . Jul 08 08 01:24 am Link If those are the same set I have the Profoto Compact 600R all you need is a Pocket Wizard Transreciever And if those are the same set as mine yes you got hell of a deal because I paid $2200 For mine Jul 08 08 01:29 am Link Nared Photography wrote: These do not have antenaes on them , she said they are about 1 year and a half old. Jul 08 08 01:35 am Link oh ok I dont you might have had the same set them I would have been able to help Jul 08 08 01:38 am Link Nared Photography wrote: These are the specials since they do have the glass tube cover and the 250 watt modeling lamp Jul 08 08 01:44 am Link try going to Calumet or Samys camera in San Fransisco, they could probably point you in the right direction. Here is Calumet's info: Calumet San Francisco 2001 Bryant St. 94110 San Francisco CA United States Photo dealer Rental shop Phone 1 415 643 9275 Fax 14 156 439 280 Url http://www.calumetphoto.com or ask Stephen Eastwood he knows a lot about lighting and might be able to help you out as well. try contacting Adorama, since they sell the flash they might be able to help with the softbox as well Jul 08 08 01:50 am Link FotoMark wrote: Eastwoods one of those buy the best money no object guys. lol Jul 08 08 01:54 am Link I use photoflex umbrella with my compact 600r's, i think Chimera has speedrings for profoto heads, check there website. And i have been told by a long time profoto user that Photek umbrellas work as well. Jul 08 08 02:13 am Link P K A S S O wrote: cool thxs will check it. Jul 08 08 02:14 am Link photoflex are a cheaper alternative for speedrings. All profoto reflectors will work on those, you'll need speedrings for softboxes/octoboxes. But hey to my credit I did read the 3 profoto 600 threads damnit Jul 08 08 03:29 am Link Kevin_Connery wrote: profoto heads use a smaller diameter shaft for umbrellas... Jul 08 08 03:32 am Link Nathan Appel wrote: Good point. Most of the less expensive umbrellas, and some of the more expensive have 8mm shafts; Elinchrom and Profoto require a 7mm shaft. (At least, they used to; the latest Profoto heads I've seen recently seemed to have more play when using umbrellas than the older ones did, though I'm not sure it's going to be enough.) Jul 08 08 05:39 am Link I have two Compact 300 Specials that I use with Chimera softboxes. You made the smart move going with Profoto as you can now rent gear that will be compatible the world over... IMHO this is a nice starter softbox http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1 … White.html Jul 08 08 04:43 pm Link $900 is a good price on those, esp if it comes with that Tenba air case.
