Use Mehrons gold powder and mix it with baby oil.  It will not dry but it will have a great shiny look.  I have no idea how much you would need to buy to do the whole body.

If airbrushing is an option, I recommend our OCC Ink Body Paint in Gold over a base coat of Ochre. It's definitely the fastest way to work, and you'd need a lot less than a gallon, too. two 4 oz. bottles of both would probably be more than enough to get you through.

If airbrushing is not an option, I'd get Kryolan's creme makeup that comes in a pump - three or four canisters to be on the safe side, or two water-activated cakes from etiher again, Kryolan or Wolfe Face Art & FX. The pump you apply like cake icing, with either a big, flat, smooth sponge or a similar brush, the cakes you apply with a very wet brush.

Good luck!

Lots of good brands mentioned - just know that each brand and type of product will give a little different final look.

You might want to get samples and do some test shooting. Otherwise you can get some very nasty surprises the day of.

What kind of abuse does the body paint have to stand up to? This can easily affect what you choices are as well.

thank you so much.  Its definitely very helpful of all of you! Are there stores that I can purchase these?  I would prefer to walk in and do the test?    We're shooting out in the desert and I think the conditions are probably going to be tough (100+degree heat maybe!) I'm working with peanuts and don't have an airbrush....Aside from this, the main issue now is, can the body paint hold onto the talent's skin with this kind of weather?

Jut remember, some types of that stuff doesn't allow your skin you breath, so you have to keep an eye on your model, so they don't get sick.

I don't know about chicago, but in Los Angeles, there is Nigel's, Frends, Naimie's & Cinema Secrets.  They are all in about a 3 mile vicinity of each other.  There are more SFX stores too in the same area, but I can't remember their names off the top of my head, but all of these stores will have what you are looking for.

I really want to get some of the Kryolan Liquid Body Make-Up in Gold but for the amount I need (32.oz) it's really expensive is there a cheaper solution that works just as well that I can purchase at a store in Los Angeles?

How many people are you painting that you need 32oz?
What are their skin tones?
What is the performance criteria?

This will provide more information so we can make better recommendations.

I was told that I would need at least 32.oz to cover an average body. I am 5'6 at 124 lbs.

It's only for me.
My skin tone I would say is a light beige.
I am interested in doing a homage shoot for "Goldfinger" (the girl draped across the bed covered in gold)

Hope this info helps. smile

Erm.......  NO - you do NOT need 32 oz to get a solid coverage on an average body with ANY body paint that I know of.

8 oz to be safe. And expect to have color left over.

Now, for a "goldfinger" look - the Kryolan gold liquid I'm familiar with has a fairly large glitter "chunk". For a more smooth "gold chrome" look - you may want to go messier with a Mehron Gold poweder mixed with canola or baby oil.

Consider what your going to do with your hair.... wig? or hair gell it down so you don't have to soak up a bunch of product.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am looking up this powder right now. smile Also it's the Gold Metallic Powder...correct?

As far as my hair goes...I am probably be going to be using gel. What happens though if it gets it my hair? Is it easy to come off?

Which do you think would work the best the Canola or Baby Oil? I will get both just to be safe.

Also...I only see the Mehron Gold Powder sold like this: http://www.amazon.com/MEHRON-INC-Gold-M … B002R2DOFC

How many should I buy? Also what size oil should I get? Thanks!

All paint and make-up is made from pigment, the binder is make-up based for body paint, for gold I use gold pigment from any art store and then mix with olive oil, or to make it dry I mix it with MUF Mist and Fix.

Dear lord a gallon for one little 5'6" model - my!

Mehron Powder - uses less than one bottle - choose the baby oil - if it gets in your hair - shampoo it out. Or for durable base use Mixing Liquid.

Kryolan Liquid too great stuff. As Lisa advised get 8 oz.
There is liquid glitter or liquid gold makeup body paint.

The listed shops are knowledgeable ask for advice there.

Another choice for non-painters is cream makeup - like Kryolan Cream, Mehron FX, Mehron Creamblend pan sticks or Fantasy Worldwide. Easy to use, apply and clean up.

I have a similar request for info on liquid gold, for head to toe application, in the UK. I have lots of bodypaint, I have lots of liquid latex, I have gold in both, but I would prefer to use the liquid gold I have seen here and there.

Not entirely sure where to acquire the liquids in the UK, or which makes are best. Any advice would be most helpful.

I have a slightly different problem.

I have a shoot where either me or a MUA is going to paint gold symbols on my body (not cover all). I am a complete novice, so I was wondering if there is a particular type you would recommend for this type of painting.. say I wanted to paint a gold circle on my arm. Also, what type of brush?

Thank you.

Same paints as noted here.

Mehron Gold powder with Mixing Liquid in a set $10.

Circle? Depends on size - brush $3 to $8
Maybe a Wolfe or Paradise brush. Could be a large point #6 Round or a nice Paradise Flat or Chisel?
