What: The Detroit Erotic Arts Collaborative (DEAC) is a unique closed event dedicated solely to the creation of fine art erotic photography. This includes, but is not limited to, artistic nudes, fetish, lingerie and pinup. The format is of the pre-scheduled trade variety in one hour intervals predetermined by the models and photographers prior to the event.
Who: Photographers and models 18+, from amateur to professional, are welcome, but only those screened for professional integrity will be allowed. This is not to be elitist, but due to the erotic nature of the DEAC, it is to ensure security within a professional and productive event. Makeup artists, hair stylists, fashion designers and fetish toy makers are also welcome.
When: There will be two days available for shooting...Saturday February 7 from noon to 8pm and Sunday February 8 from noon to 6pm. You can shoot as little or as much as you desire on either or both days. Check-in begins at 11am on both days until 5pm.
Where: The location will be in the Leland Hotel in downtown Detroit, MI. There are numerous rooms, levels, stairs and areas (mostly dilapidated) to shoot in privacy and will be closed to the general public. The shooting areas also include the City Club nightclub and the spacious marbled grand ballroom. Photographs of these areas can be viewed in the Venue Layout section.
Security: Floor monitors will be at hand to ensure the overall peace and to keep the public away from your creativity. They will also periodically walk all the areas for to be of any assistance if needed. They will be strict in upholding the DEAC rules, but they are doing so for your safety and the greater good all participants as a whole.
Workshops: There will be a variety of workshops and seminars designed to cover a diversity of topics beneficial to our art. Presented in large part by the MidWest Society of Erotic Photography and select honored guests, these will range from guides to shooting erotica, post production techniques, exhibiting/marketing erotica, 2257 federal regulations and much more. Also featured are world renowned photographers and artists to showcase their work and techniques. These workshops are open to the general public on a first-come basis and you do not have to become a part of DEAC to attend. See the workshop thread for times, course descriptions, related fees and presenter biographies.
Fees: The pre-pay fees are $25 models/$35 photographers on Saturday, $10 models/$15 photographers on Sunday and $30 models/$45 photographers for both days (add $5 each day at the door). Returning DEAC photographers in good standing receive a special "thank you" discount of $25 Sat/$10 Sun/$30 Both, if pre-paid. One working assistant is allowed to accompany and assist you for $5 at the door each day.
Hotel Rooms: There are limited hotel rooms available at the Leland Hotel (call 313-962-2300 for questions and reservations). Unfortunately, we were not able to secure a group room discount but the rates are $84 a night. However, feel free to post in the forum to find someone to share expenses with...and of course, shooting is allowed in the rooms.
Shooting Area Reservations: Photographers who pre-register can reserve certain areas in non-consecutive 30min blocks prior to their shoot. Why 30 minutes? Because of the ambiance of many of those areas, there should be no reason to take over longer than 30 minutes to ensure others have a chance to shoot there.

Cancellations: If you are listed as participating and cannot make it for any reason, please be courteous and contact anyone you have scheduled with as soon as possible. Your attendance is important to them and advance notice will help them fill their empty slots quick. Simply not showing up without warning will result in banishment of all future DEAC events and your name will be passed to other group shoot coordinators! In the case you receive a cancellation notice, there will be an board where photographers and models can list their open time slots to find one another and continue creating art. Please note that pre-paid refunds are given only upon request up to the end of January 31 2009.

DEAC is now proudly in association with the internationally acclaimed Dirty Show erotic art exhibition! Now in its 10th year, Dirty has always been a highly anticipated event to see artists at their dirtiest amidst all the titillating, shocking and unforgettable stage shows Dirty has also been famous for.
The wonderful people at the Dirty Show are also warmly welcoming DEAC by offering a discounted admission of $10 (normally up to $20 before selling out). We see no greater fit than shooting erotica during the day and then attending a huge exhibition of erotic art at night afterward. The discounted tickets will be available at sign-in.

I decided that splitting the threads was a bad thing. I came to realize that the casual not only made this thread fun, but also strengthened our camaraderie towards each other (for the most part). So from now on, the "DEAC 2 Dungeon of Decadent Disarray" thread will be used to banish certain discussions I feel are not productive towards DEAC and its participants in whole...mainly any drama.

The Leland unfortunately cannot offer a discount on room rates. Apparently, they got burned when done last time with the Exotica event and are shy about doing so again. I believe their room rates are $84. I still suggest getting a room there if you can afford it as the great aspect of the DEAC is shooting and staying in the same building. Post here if you are interested in sharing room expenses with other DEAC members!
───────────────── SHOOTING AREA ADDITION ──────────────────
We now have another area to shoot at the Leland...the spacious Grand Ballroom! For those that were there for DEAC 1, it was the large room where the main part of the expo was in. It's huge with marble walls and pillars, chandeliers and a large wall of windows for natural light. Photos will be added soon to the layout gallery. It is one floor above street level and away from public view so all shooting styles are good. Just no pushin' the naked bewbies against the window, please...there is still people walking/driving below.

We now have info for the DEAC Meet & Greet! It will be Friday Feb 6 at 8pm in the lobby bar of the Leland Hotel. It's a great time to meet who you will be working with. There will be music, drinks and good times. This will also be announced to Dirty Show feature artists as well so it should be fun!

There will be an official DEAC masseuse with table at DEAC to give all us weary people massages. Her rates are $10 for 15-20min, $1 each minute after or $50 an hour. And she's an adorably cute model too, but will not be modeling. And sowwy, no happy endings.

And you can find a contact link on "www.dirtyshow.org" but it is held in Eastern Market downtown at the Bert's Marketplace Theatre. However, there may be seminars from big name artists from Dirty at the Leland coordinated by DEAC. We're still working on those.
