Okay, guys.

I really absolutely hate to ask for help but I think you all know me well enough that I don't ever beg for money.

Link to Accident/Progress Thread
Here is the story...

On April 5, I was involved in a serious accident on an indian reservation while breaking a wild mustang. The horse was spooked and ran me into a tree-embedding a stick halfway into my head. I currently have 7 stitches underneath my left eye, and a metal plate was put in place to brace my orbital fracture and fracture of two bone plates beneath it. Luckilly, the stick avoided my eye and went through my entire left sinus cavity, weaved through all of my nerves and blood vessels and stopped 0.5 cm away from my carotid artery- truly, a miracle.

I have no impairments AT ALL. My vision is normal- (except my left eyelids are swollen currently)  I cannot drive right now and am sensitive to light.

I will have a PICC line in place for the next couple of weeks to administer IV antibiotics at home. I will be discharged from the hospital in the evening of April 13, after placement with a home health nursing agency.

I will not be modeling until the end of June. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I have been in the hospital for a week. I had emergency surgery Tuesday morning to remove an impaled stick from my head. The physician put in a metal plate to repair an orbital fracture- and I need these antibiotics to help keep my body from developing an infection. Since the surgery is so close to my brain, any sort of infection that may develop would most likely be lethal, and thus, the importance of the strength and length of the antibiotics.

I am in a hard position. Walgreens Pharmacy called me on Friday and told me they need $1300 for my insurance copay to deliver my IV antibiotics so that I can be discharged from the hospital.

I've spoken with the social workers, and there are no 'need-based' programs available to me because I have health insurance.

I've spoken with the doctors, and they won't change my prescription to something cheaper because, quite frankly, I need these IV antibiotics. They also can't give me the antibiotics because they do not keep for as long as I need them.
(6 weeks)

I've spoken with my parents- and to be honest, THEY had to borrow money to get a plane ticket to get out here right after my emergency surgery.

I don't know what else to do. I will promise modeling time later on, or whatever I can do. I'm in a really hard position and the hospital will NOT discharge me until I am placed with the nursing agency in Santa Fe, and the nursing agency will not accept me until I get my IV antibiotics needed.

My paypal:
nursesusiee AT gmail DOT com.

You have no idea how much this is appreciated!!!!

I wish I could help! Good luck.

It also might be good to explain WHY you need the antibiotics, I think more may be willing to help

I am working on it sad

I was going to send PayPal using part of the $228 of credit on my Target credit card... but they lowered my credit limit by $200.

I called and asked them to reinstate my old limit, but, ya, that didn't happen.

*curses expletives*

Stupid credit card companies!!!!  *booo*

Yes, she should always wear a helmet on a horse, but in this case, I don't think that would have made any difference....

we're just lucky she has a hard head wink

Just throwing a suggestion out there but have you or your family considered contacting local media.

I see stuff like this on my local TV stations -- and you'd be surprised how people can step up.

Besides it is has a newsworthy element to it -- ( Not trying to be funny but it has a good back story).

I feel you -- I was thrown from a horse and fractured my pelvis and cracked my sacrum.

I had no health insurance and I am a single mom. Your accident sounds more serious though and I hope that you have a full recovery.

From what I understand, and she can correct me if I am wrong. This bill is the deductible, so I am assuming they are covering a certain amount of the cost, but she still has to meet the deductible before they will cover it.
This stuff is expensive!

the deductible shouldn't be that expensive, i know my uncle has an insane deductible and he just complained to the department of health or insurance watchers and it got reduced.

If her medical bills are any where near as high as I think they are her portion could be quite substantial. My little sister has MS and after her deductible was applied to the total bill she owed 60K.

If her deductible is 20% that can add up.
Insurance is a big racket in this country.
