Hey Everyone,
I just received a message from a photographer on MM. This photographer has been traveling the world and while in Paris happen to notice my profile on MM. They asked for me to take pictures of myself and send them to him.  Has anyone heard of this organization or had a similar type of situation?

The organization is Model Training Center in San Diego.

Please message me with your thoughts.

Thank you in advance for your responds.

What company are they affiliated with? John Robert Powers has something similar to that, don't know if it's who contacted you though.
And what type of pictures did they ask you to send?

The photographer asked me to send him "test shots" - front angle/side angles/back/headshot.

The organization this photographer is with is called "Model Training Center" in SoCal (San Diego).

Has anyone heard of them?

1. Models don't need much training and certainly not from anyone who advertises it.

2. There's a great new invention called a hyperlink. By sending this thing called a hyperlink, you don't actually have to send pictures. But then again, he already saw your pictures so what more does he want? Naked pictures?

3. Training won't make you taller so what do you expect to get from it?

My thoughts are that anything called "Model Training Center" is a scam, just on principle.

Shoot, and thou shalt be trained.   smile

Photog....while in Paris no less....
Notices your MM profile.....
And enter a model training center in San Diego.

There is an aroma to that, and I'm not sure if it's pleasant.

I would say it's a scam. If you aren't sure if it is (which I'm sure by this time you are getting some icky vibes) ask for more details. If he would ask for pay to "train" you, what agency he is affiliated with, other models that have done this training school etc.

Scams (even the clever ones) are pretty easy to see through.

Anytime you receive a message like that you should do a Google search of the place or person in question. The phrase "Google is your friend" is true.

The Model Training Center in San Diego is a low low level modeling school. They don't have a website. Here is some company info. Take note that the entire corporation had earnings of only $60,000.

http://www.manta.com/coms2/dnbcompany_5lj41

Yahoo search is also your friend because they have their own version of the local Yellow pages.

http://local.yahoo.com/info-49714955-mo … o#overview

From the information provided, including that terrible picture I suggest you stay away from there.

Well, you're probably right (smells like a scam to me) but manta.com is not a reliable source for company information.  Their info on my company is at least 9 years old and is filled with incorrect data (either back then or now).   They don't even list my website which has been online for almost ten years...   ;-)

Joke or not . . . any place that has the words "model" and "training" in its name is NOT something worthwhile, no matter where it is located.

Jeff Mason,  how much did you lose ?

I will give you double your money back if you can provide any proof whatsoever....

Otherwise you should probably withdraw you statement as a lie....

Are you up for the challenge or are you just trying to slander someone you know nothing about ?

Patrick Yuen,  your statement is a complete lie and slanderous..

I looked all over your website for an address to send some legal papers to and there was no address any place to be found,  which makes me wonder....  How legitiment are you...   Please provide me with your mailing address so that we can see if you can provide real information to support your lie.  Karla Mena the owner of MTC is a friend of mine...  And I am advising her to take legal action against you for your false statements..

You WILL BE required to prove what you have said or withdraw your statement.....  Your choice,  what will it be ?

Have you lost your mind? Can you not tell that I was having fun with Pat's comment about training making you taller? Or does your training actually promise to make models taller? Or do you simply have a stick up your butt?

Well Del, I going to school you on how to read forum post. Pay attention because I'm only going to say it once.

You see I made no statement whatsoever. What I did was respond to a quote from the link Tim provided. The original quote was posted from a user on this page. http://local.yahoo.com/info-49714955-mo … o#overview

The part in italics is what I quoted. My two questions are in normal text. To refresh your memory. Here are the two questions I asked.

What is a Tijuana scam? Will they give you a venereal disease?

Are you demanding I retract my questions? Well fuck that! I'll ask any damn question I please. And I'll ask one more. Will they give your donkey a venereal disease?

I have a whole bunch more questions if it'll get your panties in a bunch so just say the word and I'll do this all day.

I'm going to give you a chance to apologize to me for your complete lack of reading comprehension or risk looking like an idiot on a public forum. Your choice,  what will it be ?

Patrick is there a reason that you chose to provide only a small part of the entire blog ?  Since you are going to school to try to understand this business why don't you provide the complete picture...?  Is there a reason why you are trying to provide the readers,  your select viewpoint ?

Complete Scam..do not waste your money on the this .
if you dont need that extra 2,000 dollars ,please donate them to your favorite charity.
the people who run this scam write positive reviews about the place.but they are all Lies.nobody can get you into an Agency .unless you are incredibly thin ,tall and beautifull,so if you are cute and average looking you can learn to be a Model for free at any other place.

Lola - 09/29/09
Wow - this this reviewer has some serious issues. Tijuana scam? Hateful much? I went to Modeling Training Center and LOVED it. The accusations are not even true. This review was obviously has some bitterness against someone there.  Lola - 09/29/09
I second the comment on the review. Where did "Tijuana" come from? I didn't pay a cent - and I did 5 runway show and 2 film parts with them. It's hard to be fooled by a FOOL.

Joseph D. Matthew - 10/12/09
OMG! Wow. This reviewer is totally bogus! What is wrong with her? She is obviously lying and completely way off the mark. I don't think she has ever been to M.T.C. because I have, and I have had a wonderful and beneficial experience with them! She needs to get her facts straight completely! She is so wrong and totally false!!! This is girl needs to get her head on straight like pronto before her lies become out of control. OH PLEASE. Modeling Training Center is not a SCAM at all. I have had nothing but good experiences with them, and the staff are really helpful and honest.

Well if you take the stick out of your butt long enough, you'll realize that I picked that passage because it makes a good setup for a joke about Tijuana scams and venerial disease. I couldn't find another joke in the other postings but if you'll give me a moment, I'm sure I can come up with some material. And yes, this is all one big joke to me. It's nothing more than material for my new career as a stand up comic.

Anything this "schools" teach, you can learn for free in the industry if you meet the requirements to be a part of that industry. These scams (because that is what they are) tend to prey on those who are ignorant of the fashion industry and the way in which it operates (I believe ArtnGlamour Photography falls under this category).

Better, free alternative to "schools"? http://www.newmodels.com, TF*, talking to people involved (as in, actually a part of, not just pretending to be) in the industry, not listening to idiots spouting ignorance and making false claims.

Man... if that was the case, we'd all be in trouble for that.

As far as the MTC is concerned... It's a dead conversation.... the OP is long gone and has made her decision already as what or what not to do...

yes
I know of them
it a real place and I know their building, been to shows they put on...

I have known models that went for the courses and they all liked it

they are a nice crew  - good on posing and make up I think
but not the biggest and best in the business

there were a lot of kids there too, and not all model potential,
so I guess they take who ever pays!

Mr Heles apparently is the founder/owner/w.e. of the Model Training Center.  This would explain why he's so combative with PYPI.  He doesn't want Pat to scare away any potential clients.

dunno Pat!

but if its the same place, they gave practical classes and help
my friend felt she learned a lot from them about the business
and posing for sure
i can say a lot more of her posing after she went - its excellent!
she has been doing shows since in fashion stuff
she is ready to work now with a great flair for wardrobe and make up and preparation - not sure how much of that came from them

I wrote the OP to put them in touch if it's worth OP asking any questions
but since shes not in SD i cant see why they would contact her, or anyone, direct
