PHOTOGRAPHERS GET THOSE CHECKS OUT ASAP TO GAURANTEE A SPOT ! ! !
First of all, this is NOT a workshop! This is a celebration of model photography for all involved and a port boost for everyone. A sharing of art between colleagues in the area and a great in person networking opportunity.
At "11:11's Anything Goes" events, My partners and I are available to help with anything you may need and even teach a thing or two if needed although there are no planned teaching scenarios. Just let us know what you need and we're there to help in any way we can to help you achieve the creation of art you are striving for.
There will however be something for photographers looking to maybe learn a new technique or for newer photographers. There will also be a teaching workshop from 10am to 1pm in a neighbor building given by Michael Lee LaPointe MM#1996. Class cost is $50. Contact him for info. Its a great class if interested. Take the class and then use what you've learned for the rest of the day at AG3. Also, attending his class gives a $25 discount to AG3!
Q: Where is this event?
A: At the studio I'm a partner of called "Studio MLP" in Racine, WI.
Q: How does this thing work?
A: Well, the main studio is approximately 4,200 sq. ft. and has enough room for 11 full studio lighting setups inside the studio. It also has a large dungenous basement approximately 1,000 sq. ft. for shooting & plenty of outdoor areas within the industrial building complex the studio is in the middle of. There is also a second building next door that has approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of studio space as well as stairwells and a rooftop access.
Everyone is open to shoot with anyone they want. Studio MLP does not organize shooting, though we are available to help with whatever you may need for your shoot or to introduce people to help network everyone. If you want to shoot with someone just ask them to shoot. The environment is very friendly and we all have fun!
Models: I provide MUAs and Hair for all models. MUAs and Hair are free to all models. Body painting is also availble. Contact attending body painter for rates.
Models are also required to provide identification upon arrival. This is an 18+ event !! !!
Photographers: Shooting is open to all, although(This rule is important!)Before shooting someone that another photographer is already shooting, you MUST ask the photographer shooting as well as the model being shot if they are OK with you shooting as well. Some photographers or models may have a specific concept for themselves and may not want others to shoot the concept they have created. Please respect their space during those shoots.
ALWAYS ASK BEFORE SHOOTING ANYONE !! !!
Q: How do I get a CD or Print of the pictures taken of me?
A: All exchanges of CDs or Prints are handled between the photographer who took the pics and the model in them. This event is a large networking opportunity for everyone involved and photographers are expected to supply the models they shot with and the hair or makeup cosmetics who worked on the model for that shot the final edited images in some form. These finals are chosen by the photographer. Photographers who do not follow this rule will be banned from any future events held at our studio. Any models who have an issue with not getting pics from photographers they shot with please contact me. Also, any legal paperwork (model releases etc.)is decided between the photog and the model alone.
It is the models responsibility to obtain contact information from the photographers he or she shoots with.
Q: Who else is gonna be there?
A: While it is understandable that some people may not want to make a decision about attending until they know who is going to be there, there are limited spots and without confirmation of your attendance you are not gauranteed a spot. Spots will NOT be temporarlily held. The list of attendees is under the banner on my profile. That said, we try to have approx. 15 photographers and 20-30 models in attendance. This seems to be the best ratio to keep everyone busy.
Q: Can I invite a model/photographer that I've worked with?
A: Absolutley. Word of mouth is a great way to get new people involved. Just please have them contact me so I can get them on the attendee list.
If you need to bring an escort, all guests are required to pay $20 at the door for admittance to the event.
Q: Nudity?
A: Nudity is NOT required! Although you must be comfortable with being around nude shooting as well as any fetish activities that may take place. I'm open minded to all styles and welcome all ideas. You should to! If not, please do not attend. I also expect everyone to act respectfully to all and any abuse or harrassment of any kind will be punishable by my foot in your ASS! ;-)> Try me! (I'm really a teddy bear) This is a professional environment and non professional behavior is not tolerated!! !!
ALSO NUDITY OUTSIDE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED !! !! YOU WILL BE FORCED TO LEAVE IF CAUGHT SHOOTING NUDITY OUTSIDE OF OUR STUDIO !! !!
Q: Why do I need an online portfolio to attend?
A: While a Model Mayhem or One Model Place is not absolutely necessary, it shows that the person is serious about this business/hobby (yes, it is just a hobby for some people). Also, people then have the opportunity to have their work displayed in more than one place.
Q: What time should I get there?
A: This is an all day event. I open the doors at 9am. There are always models and photographers who are right there when I open the doors and are ready to go. Some people wait a bit to be fashionably late. I strongly encourage models to come as early as possible. Make Up and Hair can take a long time. The shoot officially starts at 10am. If you must come later(photographers), know that there is limited space so you may want to set up early if you're planning on having your own area. If setting up your own area I do hope that you would be willing to allow others to use your equipment briefly under your supervision of course. We are all here to have a good time and network together. If you do not want others to use your equipment it is understandable though. I strongly encourage sharing the same way your mother does! ;-)> What would she say? LOL
Q: I'm a photographer, what should I bring?
A: Bring your entire studio, or just bring your camera. If you decide that you want to bring in your own lights, we have plenty of room for you to set up. Otherwise, you are welcome to plug in to our studio lights and use those. We are available to help you get the lights you need for whatever you want to shoot. Although, we do have a limited supply of lights so I encourage you to bring your own and we do not supply triggers for lights(Pocket Wizards etc.). Also, sharing is encouraged between photographers. At all of our events everyone is pretty good about sharing equipment and space. There is also plenty of places around the building to shoot available light. Bring your laptop if you like. If you have your own transmitter, feel free to bring it. If you have a concept its best to contact a model you see on the attending list about your concept ahead of time to discuss details of achieving your idea.
Q: I'm a model, what should I bring?
A: Bring whatever you would like to add to your portfolio. Really.. WHATEVER you want to add to your portfolio. Clothing, props, etc are left entirely up to you. If you have a concept its best to contact a photographer you see on the attending list about your concept ahead of time to discuss details of achieving your idea.
Models are also required to provide identification upon arrival. This is an 18+ event !! !!
Q: Will there be Make-up & Hair available?
A: Yes, we always have MUAs & Hair Stylists at the events. For models and photographers that want to use this optional service, an MUA can add a professional touch to your shoot. Upon arrival to the event you'll need to put your name down on both the hair and makeup lists. When your name comes up, you'll be called. If you are not around to respond to your calling then they will move on to the next name. They will not walk around trying to find you. I plan to have three MUAs and three Hair Stylists available as well as one body painter.
Q: Are there any places to shoot outside or is it all indoor?
A: Yes, There are outdoor settings available. The building is a multi structure industrial complex, so there are all sorts of unique walls, loading docks, fences, etc.
NUDITY OUTSIDE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED !! !! YOU WILL BE FORCED TO LEAVE IF CAUGHT SHOOTING NUDITY OUTSIDE OF OUR STUDIO !! !!
Q: I am new to this, is it still ok for me to come?
A: Absolutely! With both models and photographers, there will be a good mix of first time beginners, and seasoned pros. New photographers and new models will get a chance to watch much more experienced people do their thing. There is no need to feel intimidated, because with other beginners like yourself there, and with a very casual and fun atmosphere to work in, you will feel at home in no time. We at Studio MLP are very open to sharing the love and art of photography. We expect everyone else to do the same.
Q: When do I pay my entry fee?
A: Photographers: Total event fee for photographers is $100. Photographers are required to pay the $100 deposit in advance to reserve a spot. Spots are not reserved until I have recieved your deposit. Deposits are NON refundable! If you are unable to attend the only option is to move your deposit to the next event. Sorry, I do not have paypal. Checks/Money Orders mailed & made payable to Frank Patino Jr.. Also please include your Model Mayhem name on the check or in a letter within the envelope so that I know who you are. Thanks
