Hi Everyone! I am just getting back into modelling after having a gorgeous little baby girl. Am finding it hard getting shoots with good photographers. Is it because I have been off the scene for a bit? If anyone else has found themselves in the same boat how did you get the shoots moving again. I am so keen to get involved again.. Any photographers out there want to help me?

There are a few ways to attack this problem. You can always hire a good photographer if you can't find anyone you'd want to work with that's willing to shoot trade with you. If you pay, they will come wink

As far as shooting trade goes:

Try posting casting calls on here or other similar sites.

Apply to all the castings you fit the criteria for.

Try reaching out to photographers you worked with in the past and seeing if any of them would be interested in shooting with you again now that you're back in the swing of things.

Try attending local networking events or group shoots to meet new people.

Think about bartering for things other than money or trying to figure out something special you can bring to the table that will sweeten the deal for photographers.

Good luck!

Post something there.  If you don't get what you're looking for, browse photog profiles and send out some messages.

You have a fantastic port with very creative photos. Speaking as a photographer I am a little confused about your current look. What photos are before you had your baby and what photos are after you had your baby.

Do you have photos taken up somewhere before you became with child?

It seems Stacey has done the usual things to find photographers but is getting little response. Are there other ways? I would think that there are good photographers out there who would like her alternative and location work.

If you are not pregnant, why do you have images in your portfolio in which you are pregnant?

Your portfolio should be current (and that includes hair).

If you are looking to shoot with some good photographers, I am sure that a there are a number of highly talented photographers in your area that would be more than willing, for a fee, to help you update your portfolio with a set of "wow" images that will blow your socks off.

I think you may want to specify somewhere in your 'about me section' that you've just had a child, so people don't still think you're pregnant. But I think it's ok to leave the photos of your pregnancy up and looooads of other models do also.

You want to now network like crazy. Message people, maybe comment/list peoples images or leave them a tag.
Attract attention to your portfolio, this is one of the only ways how (with regards to internet modeling!)

If you have profiles on other websites I recommend you do the same there as here.

I have kept up some pregnacy shots in my portfolio to give it a been of a variety. I have been trying to get more shoots with the new hair which is why i only have a few shots with it.

Here's a novel idea, instead of doing a browse search for photographers in your area, do a search for the other models just to size up your competition. Check out their ports and profiles to see if you are equally selling yourself.  Good luck.

So!  That was her decision.  She also wants to have good pictures.  Another decision of her's.  Sympathy is not a form of payment.

Andrews! Are you saying I'm old and not so fun? I'm shocked and offended by that. Well at least I would be shocked and offended if I was an arse-head! :-)

Hope you get some good jobs, you're a great model and togs should be falling over themselves to work with you!

Didn't say, "Pay me."  I said, "Pay them."  Obviously, if she's paying, she's seen their portfolio.

good luck stacey smile

definatly work with the people you have worked with before...get lots of shoots with them...becuase you can come up with something creative if you asked...

its hard with finding new photographers and not getting responces...but keep plugging away..

the only reasons i dont get much work is becuase i take a chaperone,my health and i dont shoot nude...

but thats till isnt stopping me...

keep going ..

you have it in you...

and im sure pete would jump at a chance for another shoot...

There are a lot of things in life that are expensive.  Big deal.

The OP said:  "finding it hard getting shoots with good photographers."  The operable word being "good"

Your suggestion is that she keep doing more of the same which is exactly what she is NOT liking and not finding rewarding.  How is that helpful?

Let me say it this way:

The OP says:  "I can't find any good photographers to shoot me TF*"

Someone says:  "Then find a good photographer and pay him/her (and you will get the images you want/need)."

You say: "You don't have to pay to get the images you want."

Huh?

She already told you that she ISN'T getting the images she wants via TF*.

How is telling her to "keep doing it" helpful to her?

The answer is not that you should or have to pay a photographer. It's just an option.

With testing up (my preference because it requires me to work harder at becoming a better model to even get shoots), you need to put in a lot of effort and just keep shooting. It's been mentioned that perhaps you should update your portfolio and take out the maternity pictures. Diversity is only good if you can still shoot said diversity-- if you're not preggo anymore, and you're not planning on it again very soon, you don't need the shots in your port. I'd keep some of the pre-maternity photos and put up your new ones. Write your profile stating that you're just returning and what you're looking to shoot. First place to start is with photographers who have already shot and worked with you. Reply to castings, place your own casting calls, network, etc-- just like when you first started out. Getting good shoots as trade takes time and effort, and it'll take awhile to build everything up and gain momentum again.

You are 4'10", you don't do nudes, and your profile talks about getting paid, or having the photographer pay to get you there.  That might be part of the issue.  I suspect there's no shortage of models in the London area.

Thank you for taking it right.  Take a look at this thread, and the OP from its port.

She's your height, does nude (and non nude) work wonderfully, is an active and impressive networker, and still has a hard time finding the level of work she wants.
