Ok heres your lesson on managing the models, confirm the day before, either via email, or txt message if you have their number..

If you dont hear back by next morning, then it canceled

Schedule shoots so it's convient for you, like after work, or after school, or after a paying client, so it takes no additional effort to be where you meeting

So when they flake on ya, you don.t mind, and just continue on without them....  I give em a second chance if they contact me, but most will never contact you again...

So consider them inspiration, and use the ideas they gave you with people who really want to be photographed

Oh and as i've heard from one model, it helps to run a spell checker on your model release, as most of them notice that kind of stuff.

Answer:  No.  As long as you  are dealing with “models”, get used to it.. unfortunately.

Question: I see you photograph many high school seniors.  Do they always show up?  Mine do not.

What is your policy for your studio customers who do not show up?

Oh and so you know, friend requests are so you can find people again, otherwise you will almost never be able to find em again on here, and lets all the other persons friend see that you exist, and they might possibly want to work with you as well who knows...

And welcome to the mayhem!

And remember you colloraborating with fellow artists when collaborating with models on trades or when their paying, so don't watermark their images to hell....

This was scheduled the night before the shoot.(so it was last minute for me, but still wasted my day because i moved things around to fit them in)
Confirmed a half hour before the shoot again
Got to the general location- talked to them on the phone -said they were not ready yet.
Waited half hour- still not ready.
Said they did not know when they would be ready.
I left.
Guess thats what you get for dealing with prostitutes looking to build their port!

Since I joined in August, I've been burned by 6 models. Looking back at their ports I notice that all of their newest photos are about one year old.

I will say that I have found some great models on here who are very dependable!

You can post a "do not recommend" list on your profile, listing only the model's MM number.

However, it's worth noting that a lot of people view "blacklists" on profiles as unprofessional and childish, and it often makes the person wonder what the other side of the stories are, and what it is the person with the blacklist has done to cause so many people to not show... 'cause, well, there's 3 sides to every story: his, hers, and the truth.

Just food for thought.

I've been booked and flown 6+ hours...to have a message when I land saying "shoot canceled," or "rescheduled for next month"...

On top of 2 "well known" photographers that have stood me up as I sit at an address for 2+ hours alone. Some sending text messages, traffic... be there within the hour...etc. No show. "Big" shoots and names....can still f*** you over.

Trust me...would love it if you could. No different than the ol "two sides to every story". Some people are dramatic and some just get plain screwed over. That's the business at any level.

this is all good info- i guess i will learn from this.
All my regular clients- portraits, wedding etc, must leave a deposit, On here alot if for fun and trade, so you should respect what people are doing for you.  The fact that they were hookers means nothing to me.  They maybe trying to break into modeling and this is how they can afford to get by now- I am not judging them. Just venting that I do not like to be blown off, if it was a regular client I would have kept the deposit at least.

Then pay their rate.

I wonder how much money they might have lost by shooting.

Please forgive me, I mean no disrespect.   Why in the world would you schedule a prostitute?  I am not sure what Google search you have to do to find a hooker's name, but I would imagine a prostitute would be about the most unreliable model, because she might be "on duty", when she is scheduled to shoot.

I would imagine the pay scale is different enough she would  flake.

I sure confuse easily, I guess.

They?  Wow!  I thought it was just one.   I am going to find out how to locate hookers by Googling.

I suppose Toulouse-Lautrec, had good enough results, with them, why not me?

I use favorites to bookmark for future reference.  When I get a friend request that has the appearance of someone just playing "Myspace" to inflate their friend list number I hit that nifty DENY button. >plonk<
The friend request is a two way communication so I would feel rude friending someone unless I want to work with them or at least correspond with them in a meaningful way.

Sure. You can post her name all over the internet. And she can do the same to you. And the rest of us can sit back and watch.

Speaking of which, here's an article from today's newspaper about someone who posted a bad review of a bookstore on Yelp. The bookstore owner showed up at the reviewer's home and hilarity ensued. Hilarious for the rest of us, that is, not so funny for the participants when the cops were called and restraining orders were filed.

I don't mean to sound wacky, but perhaps she thought you were needing more than a model?  When she realized you were  really  a photographer, she flaked.

I think this happened to me once, but I cannot be 100% sure.

They have 48hrs prior to cancel or they loose their retainer on portraits

Yup! I understand the DESIRE to do them, but I know when I come across blacklists I tend to think that the person must attract drama. Since I like to AVOID drama I usually choose to avoid working with those people wink

Bad model! No biscuit!

I haven't worked with a bad model. I've encountered icky attitudes, inexperience, and awkward personalities...

To me, the worst is to be unprofessional. I don't care if you're a photographer, MUA, Model, or Stylist... If you have an attitude that turns people off, you're in trouble.

Even though you talked about technical stuff, what I am saying is maybe she thought that was just "talk".  Heck, I donno, if she had it in her mind you wanted a 3some, and she was ready, maybe they drove to your studio; realized it was really a studio, and figured they didn't want to waste their time.

Oh, I am in a small town in Texas, and I never saw a hooker in these parts that I would consider taking time to photograph... they are just too... well.. not purdy... LOL
