So whats going on out in cali? I doubt more people (off the street) would be interested in your nude project if you were seeking models in los angeles as opposed to Atlanta, GA.
My real question is: Cali photographers or anyone thats sought models in California, is it easier to find comfortable nude models there as opposed to any where else in the states?

I grew up/lived in California.
Better weather year round = more nudes done year round Especially in SoCal Most of California = less conservative than East Coast

Nice nice, you know how here on the forums every day there is a conflicted model wondering about doing nudes, well many women here find nudity disrespectful, if you took time to ask their reasons for not doing nudes. Is it so different (the ones that don't do nudes) in SoCal?

What's the certain demographic to which you refer? And also remember that many people who live in Cali certainly aren't from here.
I've never noticed it, but do know that the models I have worked with are extremely comfortable with their bodies. There have even been a couple that disrobed before even talking over any sort of concept.
were alot more laid back here, were not prudes and were not afflicted by the bible belt telling us what to do. most people come to los angeles to get into a creative field , acting ,modeling etc and the kinda modeling that may turn heads in the south we wont even bat an eye at

Its pretty much everyone, look at the nude model network thread for DC and Baltimore. Its not difficult to get nude models for a project here - especially if you have already networked and shown some face time. But many women out here would be offended at the idea (and want to do TFP, thats the important part lol.)

lol, while the population numbers are something to consider, the fact that all the nudes are from Orange County, Los Angeles and San Francisco are another matter right? (on second thought, maybe everyone in the suburbs puts the nearest big city as their marketing area on these profiles)

Sure, all the models on the nude model network in the area are pretty much shooting mainly nudes and paid work only. I'm sure there are many people that would do nude that never considered it, as soon as money is mentioned. My projects tend not to involve money so there are some people I'll mention an idea to and often times they like it, and its TFP - if you have to label things like that. Even if it involves nudity.

Here I don't see so many and I have asked several successful models from here their perceptions on nudity. Much like the forum threads here where people broadcast their perceptions on the matter.
Sounds like you trying to say you are having a hard time getting nude TF and you blame its because the demographics. Here is a tip. Work on the skills then they will come.

no it isn't easier. there are just more people. that's all. For every nude model you see, there are probably 20 models that didn't want to pose nude and I'm being consevative in my guess.
Within a 100 mile radius of where I live in Southern California, there's over 24 million people. So you're talkin LOTS of models available all over the place out here. There's just a MUCH BIGGER model population base to solicit from... nude or otherwise...

Slightly off topic: I'm going to be IN California and I've noticed less people there want to PAY for a nude model...which is probably because there are many locals who will shoot TFP/TFCD nudes.
I agree with everyone...more people = more chances! Also the entertainment industry is largely centered in Southern California...

Yes, I do think this has a lot to do with number of people in California. There are many, many girls there who don't shoot nudes, either. It's just easy to find ones that do because the sheer population size (and number of people wanting to model) allows for it.
I have found just the opposite. To me models in Los Angeles are WAY more conservative than NY models. Even though I live in California, mainly for the landscape and weather, the majority of my models are from the east coast. I don't have much luck with LA models and nudes. Most of the models that approach me want commercial headshots for their acting careers.

People interested in an entertainment career often move to California. They are also often good subjects for nude photography.
I'm in Michigan, I know several photographers in Michigan and Ohio who do a great deal of nude work. Very few of our models are from California, although I'm pretty sure we'd welcome any that were, should they choose to come here.

Eh thats not really the issue at hand here. In California can you walk up to a model (or any attractive girl, on the street, or off myspace/CL) fit for your project, tell them about your artistic nude project, and be more likely to have a positive receptive reaction than you would in say, Atlanta Georgia. Even if you had your portfolio in your hand, or not.

1) It's warmer here
2) The film, TV and adult video markets are all fairly saturated in SoCal, so there are more people here who don't view shedding clothes as anything unnatural
