So yesterday a photographer said to me that I should set up a facebook fan page.. i wasnt quite sure why!
Anyway I have done it for a giggle, turns out a lot of other photograpers and models have one.
Any of you guys got one? if so share your link..

I thought I was a fan of Karl Lagerfeld on FB but I just checked and "our relationship "appears to have ended ....Maybe he didnt like my MM thread asking who was the greater diva- "Lagerfeld or Valentino "

It's unfortunate that FB decided to use the word 'fan' (although not entirely surprising as these pages are also maintained by pop stars and footballers) as the pages themselves are really nothing more than a searchable additional profile that can be used to send updates to people who have registered an interest in your work by 'becoming a fan'.
They are also useful because you can post photos that people can't randomly tag, people can't send you spam via them and you don't get email updates whenever somebody writes on the page's wall - all unlike normal profiles.
So it's a good way of keeping in touch with people who like your work, but who aren't actually friends or people you might want to network with in a reciprocal manner.

Yeah, fanclub isn't exactly the way I see it either.
And I wish FB let you keep track of who you've already sent invites to - I have hundreds of 'friends' (another inaccurate name) and my regular profile isn't as important to me as the 'fan' page.
No but I am going to take the time to post something much more important than a fan club of mine... the link to a page I started to help raise awareness for Fragile X Syndrome;
Mine's a 'group' page, not a 'fan' page. What's the difference and why is one better than the other? I just recently noticed there was a difference and was trying to decide if I should change over....
I heard fan pages are easier maintained, and it makes it so
you can just have friends on your personal FaceBook page
and use the Fan Page to get your work out.
