What is the one food you can't go without for Thanksgiving (other than the traditional turkey or ham).

I have to have dressing (with cranberry sauce).

What do you mean by dressing?

And I don't eat Thanksgiving dinner, so it's probably some form of take-out I have instead big_smile

We can live without those here. Thanksgiving isn't celebrated as much than in the States. And it's a month and a half earlier.

It was actually started here in Florida and then Plymouth some 450 years ago... so that could be why. wink

The dressing (stuffing) and broccoli cornbread (southern thing).

Pumpkin pie and real whipped cream (getting whipping cream at the store, adding sugar and whipping yourself... not that coolwhip crap).

Actually.. Thanksgiving feasts/celebrations have been going on in (what was to become) Canada for much the same amount of time.. since the early 1600s or so.. it's been a *very* longstanding tradition here.  But we don't really make as big a deal out of it as is made of Thanksgiving in the USA (for reasons unknown)

EDIT: for stuff I can't live without.. aside from a ham or a turkey.. anything else is a bonus.  Without either of those two.. it's not thanksgiving, IMHO.

I hate cranberry sauce... too bitter... Not saying others don't like it.. I'm just not one of them.

The one thing I do look forward to is Fruit Salad... It's Pink and has lots of strawberries in it.... love it!

Eh. There's nothing I'm crazy about at Thanksgiving. And I actually really hate turkey.
*braces for impact*

But this year I'm going to see if I can help my mom reinvent some dishes...ours are just so...original, plain recipe.

One item? That would be mashedtatersgravystuffingwitholives. I mash 'em all together before consuming.

I'd like to say "football" but I'm a Raider fan.
