It seems most if not all of the forum contests have adopted the rule that if you don't vote for any reason your entry gets disqualified from winning. I just declined to accept a win in one of the contests by default because that is really not a win. I did not pay much attention to the discussion previously and I am not sure exactly how this came about or how much input from the members here was considered. I disagree with this rule and will not accept or display any award from such a default decision.

The forum contests are run by the host who is a volunteer and its his contest .
If the  host wishes to include the rule of If you dont vote you win is disallowed , . It is the hosts  choice it is nothing to do with the mods/admin or the site .
If you read this post that is stickied at the top of the contest forum it pertains to the forum contests .
https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=901619

It clearly states in these rules that if you have a problem with the any rules etc to contact the host in question .

As you have stated

If you dont like the rule , its simple , dont enter that contest .

it clearly states

I did and its obvious that most of the contest mods are not interested in the thoughts of the people who participate in the contests.
Its a bad rule and I will not participate in any way with a contest that has that condition.

Yes that image would of gotten DQ,d
the reason for it would be quite simply
- pubic area (whether hair is present or not)
there is a full list of image rules found here .
https://www.modelmayhem.com/help/rules/images

All images on the site have to abide by these rules wether they are entered into a contest or not .

Just what do you consider "pubic area"?
The problem is that the "pubic area" seems to fluctuate  quite a bit depending on whom the mod is. There needs to be site wide standards not open to individual judgement.

Pubic area = where a male or female would be expected to grow pubic hair.

Not a specific reply but to apply generally to all the years I have been here,  but I am disappointed in the overall negativity and rigidness of what is supposed to be a gathering of progressive artists.

They have to have rules. & I think the rules are reasonable and fairly applied for the most part. Remember judging these things is very subjective. I don't think  rigidity is a problem here and certainly not negativity at least on the part of the contest mods..

You're disappointed that someone who has worked hard developing a forum-based contest doesn't want to change his/her contest to cater to you?

If you don't like their rules don't enter their contest(s).

If you have a "better idea" for a contest, and want to put in many hours to develop and run it... (and have the patience to put up with a never-ending barrage of comments from people that think you are "doing it all wrong") then please send me a CAM and we can start to get your contest set up.

As a note, 18+ is not the rule of the forum contest hosts.  18+ rules are outlined in the MM image guidelines of what is acceptable and what is not and how "adult" images need to be classified.  I'm sure plenty of contest hosts would have no problem displaying adult images in their contests, but that would go against site-wide rules.

Contest hosts have been asked to make sure 18+ images are NOT posted as images and are posted only as linked, and are properly marked as 18+.  That is part of our responsibilities if we want to host a contest.  This is a decision from those in charge of MM and as hosts, we do our best to abide by it. Neither the contest hosts, nor the forum moderators, nor JoJo herself made the rules about what constitutes 18+ and what needs to be done with such images.

We are not perfect and sometimes 18+ images do not get dinked.  If you argue "but this one got by, so why not mine!" I say that just because fewer than 100% of rule-breakers get punished does not mean everyone is free to break rules.   It is like our current justice system.  Even if you don't always get a ticket for speeding, it is still always illegal and you shouldn't gripe when you do get a ticket for it.

+1, fully agree with this well written explanation.

Hey Erin, since your bump there has still been no activity on this thread for almost 2 months. Maybe after almost 5 years since it''s creation people have finally figured out how the contest it works and no longer need to bitch and moan.

So, again today there is an entry on the vote page that was also in the contest yesterday. It appears the mechanism to catch entries submitted before 15 days is not functioning well.

Well, I can't check now that I have already voted, but I am pretty sure this image on yesterdays contest https://www.modelmayhem.com/contests/po … iew/173608
is also on today's vote page. This is the third one I have caught in the last week. There is obviously something not working with your system if at least one image on the vote page each day was just in the contest the day or two before.

EOG = emphassis on genitals .

The review panel ( yes there is a panel of judges now) did think your image was over the line . So it was dqd from the contest ..

Also for future reference all links to 18+ images must be marked 18+ in the forums smile

All 18+ image links in forums must be marked 18+ . as this has been ignored , it leaves me no choice but to hide all 18+ links

We will not start to get drawn into discussing other images or your own in this thread .

The JUdging  panel thought it was to much EOG on your entered image so it was dqd ..

Obviously, it depends on the photographer. If the phtotg is in the "in group" any of the images are acceptably if you are in the other group, well, I guess the images are dqd.

Incorrect . We do not even know who the photographer/model/digital artist/retoucher/make up artist/hair stylist  is untill the DQ cam is sent ..
