I understand it is all edgy and killer to make jokes about Toyota Acceleraor Pedals.

The perception is that Toyota's are dangerous because your favorite blogger vlogger or MTV Host told you that.

The reality is any vehicles pedal could get stuck or malfunction.

The gist of this video is that it can happen in any car at any time.

If it happens to you, simply place the shifter into neuteral.

I realize Edmunds is not as cool as sisley or american apparrel or holister and my intention is not to take time away from biting your nails, slicing you own forearm with razor blades, or re-arranging animae action figures.

If your acclerator pedal sticks you have two options:

1. call 911, panic like a wuss, your estate will get a multi million dollar settlement, and your loved ones have more $ to go shopping with

or

2. shift the car into neuteral, pull over to the side, shift into park, turn the car off and live

Nice vid.

I've had a stuck gas pedal on a mazda when I made a custom mat for it, so toyota is not the only brand.

The same thing happened to me in my Chevy. I had two mats and they bunch up.

What happens if your shifter is stuck in gear?

They don't.

Just slap it and it goes up,
into neutral.

Then take your foot off tha gas, and put it on the brake.

Duh!

They do! The case of California Highway Patrol officer Mark Saylor is one example:

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010 … ope-grief/

"Hill did not know if Saylor tried to shift the vehicle into neutral or turn it off – actions safety experts say may have been impossible if the car was experiencing a malfunction. The shut-off button on the car must be held for three seconds to turn the car off, experts said."

"But what if the clutch has failed as well as the accelerator and brakes?

"'Turn off the ignition but it's vital you leave the key there,' Mr Mead says. 'If you remove the key from the ignition, the steering lock will go on and that's the last thing you want.'"

My old Corolla also has mats that creep up, so this is useful to be aware of,
