Since we had a great turnout this last event, Drew and I are holding this event at the same location in Monrovia. For those who are wondering, we appologize for not getting the Malibu mansion location for July 17th. There was a misunderstanding between the owner and Drew. We will not be using the Malibu location in the future unless the owner changes his terms.
For those who couldn't make our June 19th event, here is your chance to shoot gorgeous models.
We have a special guest photographer attending. He is a well known Fashion and Editorial photographer based in Los Angeles. He'll be giving tips on how to shoot natural light. Who is he? First person to correctly post his user name will get $20 off registration fee.
"I have always wanted to create an images that pops out the screen like what Karl and Drew's have on their photos. I'm so glad that I found their workshop thru MM forum. After many research looking at other workshops offered in the forums, I'm glad that I choose Drew and Karl's. This is one of the best workshop i've ever been. well organized, great instructor and model line up on beautiful location. Hands on practice not only from the instructor but from fellow participant photographers. They are friendly, willing to share and I learned a lot. I'm so looking forward to future D&K's event to sharpen and improve my skill!" - EonPix 1659623
"Learned a lot from the previous workshop. Amazing how knowing and using the right lighting makes a big difference! Thanks Karl and Drew!" - Field Photo 1571050
"Karl and Drew's workshop is designed for photographers who want to refine their technical lighting skills. Karl spends individual time with each of the participant to review the images and lets them know what could be improved.I left the workshop with a greater awareness of how to shoot the models in connection with light and color. Thank you Karl and Drew!!" - Naira Photography 1665452
For new photographers who want to attend our workshop ⢠Learn to use lighting like the pros.
⢠We're here to share our tips to beginning photographers.
⢠Ever wonder how Drew and I light our models without the background being blown out on a sunny day? Speed lights not cutting it huh? We will give you hands on experience in using affordable and portable mono strobe lights and equipment. Try Before You Buy. ⢠You'll be so impressed with your images after the event that you'll be ready to order the same lighting equipment we use.
⢠I'll show you different light modifiers and their uses. Octobox, beauty dish and grids will be covered. I'll discuss the difference between the silver BD and white BD. Why i use the BD over an Octobox at the beach or desert.
⢠Circular Polarizer(CP)and Neutral Density(ND) filters will be discussed and how it will improve your images when shooting outdoors or at the beach. I recommend Hoya brand. CP, ND4 ⢠Once you attend our workshop, you'll be able to build up your port with beautiful models quickly.
⢠Students can take the remainder of day to shoot models.
Preperations: ⢠To make use of the workshop, CyberSyncs or Pocket Wizards are recommended. You can rent the PW's from Calumet or Samy's if needed. If the Pocket Wizards are unavailable to rent, you may rent the CyberSyncs or Pocket Wizards from Drew and I. Limited availability.
⢠Students should have prior knowledge on how to adjust their camera in manual mode. You'll need to know how to adjust aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
Don't care about the workshop? ⢠For photographers who don't care about the workshop, they can shoot the available models for the group shoot portion. (Please note that the workshop will be using Channel 1 on the Pocket Wizards. On the CyberSyncs we'll reserve Channel 1 also, if needed)
⢠Shoot beautiful models all day long.
⢠Please be courteous, if you're going to set up your lighting equipment at a awesome location, to either share or move locations every 1/2 hour.
Hire models after the event for 1 on 1 shoots at 1/2 hour increments Message the models and see if you can hire the model you want after the group event for 1 on 1 sessions.
**************** Registration Information **************** When is this taking place and how can i reserve a spot? Date: Saturday July 17th.
Time: 10am to 5pm. The main event is from 10am to 2pm. From 2-5pm you are allowed to hire models for 1 on 1 sessions at 1/2 hour increments.
Location: Monrovia, CA

⢠Lunch and drinks will be provided.
NO ESCORTS, HUSBAND, BOYFRIENDS, OF SOME SORT FOR BOTH MODELS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS! But if you absolutely need to bring someone, they will have to pay the $80 fee.
I would like to spice it up more. I'm sorry to say that we couldn't do the beach shoot workshop since they only give permits during weekdays. But here is the backbreaker...
If you sign up to our July 17th shoot, we will have a raffle for 10 lucky photogs to be invited with either Karl or myself at a private beach shoot...for FREE!!!! Don't worry, the regulars will not participate in the raffle. This is more for the new workshop attendies and maybe the past attendies who I have not been invited at the beach.
We will have the Lambo back and hopefully we will have another exotic car at the shoot.

So i get this message from a model saying i'm rude for posting our event the same day as another. She said i look stupid for being rude blah blah blah and i trash talk in the thread and not respectful to the models. And that i'm traumatizing new models for taking advantage of them for free. WTF?
Someone show me where i talked crap about models in the threads? I know i talk crap about Drew and other photographers i know because we're cool like that but me talk trash about Models? Bwahaha!
I took a snap shot of the conversation. That model blocked me and didn't read the reply that explained why i booked that day in July.

Um yea, I'm in, of course.
The model line always forms after spots are sold out, that's gotta say something about the events!
And honestly, where else do you meet a better group of guys willing to teach each other there techniques, share lighting, pocket wizards, and don't hog models during group time (well except when Drew is shooting Matus' boobies for a so called "cover"). Attending these shoots has done absolutely nothing more than improve my portfolio and knowledge of photography.

And what's with this MM drama, seriously lame!
Where can you find any events that the hosts will take you to another private shoot after the event at another day? Look how much we are charging an compare to the over priced ones. We offer more than anybody else.
This will be the only event we will NOT be sold out. Why? I want ALL the photogs to come to ours even if I invite everyone to come for free. BWAHAHAH...OH, not free... I have to pay for food, booze, the location, more booze, models, muas, gate guards, housekeeper, food, assistants...etc

SERIOUSLY!!! x2
You guys should just seriously drop the whole hating thing. You guys have your shoot and let them have there shoot. There is no need to gloat or talk shit about anyone else cuz it cheapens you. Your shoots speak for themselves so let them do the talking for you.

This time we need some Lumpia!
Not just for you Scott, I will bring lumpia for everyone. You people snort the barbeque pork and barbeque beef. None of the vegetable shrimp was left. The rice and noodles were also gone. There was a few orange chicken left and we had to cook white rice. LOL. I should bring a roast pig next time.

Our events already speak for themselves. We don't hate. We are only competing with our previous events. I only think on how to improve the prior event and how the attending photogs and models would enjoy themselves. As we all know, there is NO competition. and everyone knows why Karl talks shit about 'the" other promoter. He was violated when they came into our thread and talked shit. No apologies has been given since.
As you all know, this is not a money issue. Karl shoots all the time. Ask him how much money he made out of any of his shoots. The dude is an Engineer. He scales 6 figures easily. I on the other hand, make $11/hr as an assistant manager at In and Out burger. We make good money at our full time jobs. In 5 years, my almost new Toyota Corolla(salvaged title) will be paid off and I can upgrade my Canon xti to a 40D. Upgrade my 18-55 non IS kit lens to a 28-135mm IS. That would be sweet.
Let's not even go to the 2 bedroom apartment I live at a high end Rialto area.
