Thank you for listing me. Not sure if I got a chance to show my appreciation before. Been on modelmayhem since the early days.

I've been watching you on deviantART. You've been doing some really creative stuff! How have you been?

*sigh* Just checking the Casting Calls for body painting. 1200 calls, 9 are willing to pay $, none are offering close to average rates. Ah well!

yeah pretty depressing.

Most people still try to compensate us with exposure. I wonder if they pay their rent with exposure.

Don't take the "Free" jobs..... then the in-experienced ones will do the job in twice the time and.... annoy everyone involved.... If they can't pay my rate then I don't do the job! That's when you know your an Artist! big_smile

Has anybody checked out the Graffiti Warehouse events in Baltimore, MD? I haven't been but it seems like a cool concept. I was wondering if anyone could testify whether or not it would be worth the 2 hour drive for me.

I noticed in their latest event posting that they are now holding Body Paint Workshops every 1st Saturday.

Their Meetup:

What are your summer plans?

Any awesome conventions or festivals to note this year?

I'm looking forward to my usual- Origins Game Fair and Pennsic War. If I'm lucky I'll make time for Dragon Con this year!

LOL I'm just an artist but I am seriously considering going out for the Thrown Weapons Marshal training this summer. The boyfriend has been trying really hard to get a sword and board in my hands too.

Has anyone actually gone to a Silly Farm workshop or Jam session? I know many of us are self-taught. Do you think it would be worth it for an aspiring body painter?

Yes. Very worth it!
From brushstrokes to quick ways of large coverage to hints about various brands of paints to the ability to try out new brands before buying to networking with others in your area to, ohh, just about everything!
Any of the Silly Farm teachers are worth working with.

Happy New Year! Let's set those aspirations another notch (or several) higher in 2014! I know I'll be pushing myself to teach and write more than ever.

Best Wishes!
