Ashley Graham took a picture of herself backstage at a shoot for Addition Elle... can't wait how it looks like! I will post the pictures when they come out
a lot of people think that way. to me, the beauty of plus size modelling is that plus size models come in many sizes! she is a size 10-12. Okay, that is definitely smaller than a size 14-16, but it is also a lot bigger than the "standard" size 2-4, right? Plus size models should not be compared to plus size women, but to regular size models.
a lot of people in this niche of the industry talk about the size restrictions of the main industry, and how young girls are being forced to be a certain weight and size. Yet those same people also say "that's not a plus size model, her size isn't big enough" or "that is not a plus size model, plus size modelling starts at size 14 or up". But that makes them hypocrites (in my eyes), and no better than the people they look down on.
So I want celebrate plus size models in all sizes, from 8 to 22. Inspiration has no size.
I didn't mean to offend anyone or be a hypocrite. just when I saw these pics, I immediately thought...Wow, there's no hope for me because if she is what the industry considers "plus" then, I'm far from that...even though I'm a 12/14. But I understand completely what you are saying. I do believe that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes

hi rebecca,
I did not mean to call you a hypocrite, it was more generally speaking .
I have the same feeling you know. but then I look at someone like fluvia lacerda, who is a bigger size, and she has these amazing, perfectly shaped hips and the tiniest waist en cheekbones that could cut my finger, and I pretty mich go "damn, i have no chance whatsoever in this industry" . I think that's natural, we all have people that we look up to but at the same time confront us with our own limits.
they are all stunning in their own way, and so are we!

Ermmm. I think there are 2 ashley grahams. There is one who is a fetish model who is not plus size. I'm not sure if this was mentioned any further down in the post, but yeah, there are two. The fetish/nude/glam model lives in DC.
This thread is just awesome! I love the fact that people are trying to educate others on what plus size modelling is. a lot of people seem to be ignorant in this field and it's awesome that people are trying to clear up misconceptions. I was talking to my agent the other day about free testing and she told me that plenty of photographers call up for free testing but when she tells them that they reached the plus division they automatically ask to be redirected to a different division, that just made me really sad. I hope more people could see that plus models can be just as awesome as straight sized models and can help produce amazing images

what biana told also made me sad. and frustrated. but I love what you just said! I'm inspired by regular models all the time, and it's great to hear that sometimes, this works the other way around too

British Cosmopolitan did a feature in their december 2010 issue called "delicious curves"...it's basically a myth busting fashion spread for the curvier ladies out there to help them dress during party season.
The model they used was a UK14, called Valeriya Ostapenko at Ford NYC. She is absolutely divine! Would post pics but i dont know if UK cosmo has the feature online yet
